Rapper Nicki Minaj is facing backlash for charging her fans $10 a month to join her exclusive Spaces on X.com.
The monthly subscription for access to Nicki’s exclusive content sparked rumors that she is broke.
The “Pink Barbie” rapper, 43, announced the deal on X Spaces on Friday. She informed her followers that she activated subscriptions on her X account.
“I finally did it. You can now subscribe to my X account,” she wrote. Nicki added, “Exclusive Spaces & Content, Welcome Aboard.”
As of Tuesday, over 3,000 fans paid for monthly subscriptions.
But others criticized Nicki, saying she is broke and needs an additional source of income due to costly lawsuits.
One X user wrote: “Guess talking about Jay Z didn’t generate the income she thought it would.”
Another user wrote, “She’s cashing in on her loyal base instead of handling her own business issues.”
A third person commented: “Nicki Minaj is BROKE. All these lawsuits about her owing money don’t exactly scream that she’s rich.” The user continued: “Harassing Jay-Z for two years over Tidal money and never taking him to court because she clearly had no case or money for a lawyer.”
A fourth person wrote: “A celebrity begging her fans for more money.. You’re an embarrassment.”
