Four million Americans no longer receive food stamp benefits amid sweeping changes to the government’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
The changes came amid reports that millions of cheaters were selling their food stamps for cash.
Among Atlantans who risk losing SNAP benefits is Eva Marcille’s ex Kevin McCall.
Kevin, who shares a daughter with Eva, cried on a recent podcast after singer Chris Brown failed to pay him $25,000 for his work on three songs.
The 40-year-old music producer is best known for his work on Chris’ 2010 song “Deuces” and “Strip” (2011).
“I’m not even trippin’ though. I got an EBT card in my pocket,” Kevin said while holding up his SNAP card for the camera.
President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act included major changes to the food assistance program, including cracking down on cheaters and fraud.
Trump’s ban on buying junk food with SNAP benefits went into effect in multiple states on January 1, 2026.
The White House called the SNAP program “bloated” and said it failed in its mission to provide “temporary help for those who encounter tough times.”
The White House said SNAP was never meant as a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
Critics say the sweeping changes to SNAP affects mainly children who don’t have access to healthy food.
“We’re upset about how quickly this has happened,” said Starsky Wilson, president of the Children’s Defense Fund, a child advocacy group. “There are some supports that are still staged to go away later this year. So there could be an even greater sense of desperation among children and their families as we come to the end of this year.”
