“Love and Hip-Hop: New York” alum Sidney Starr will remain in jail after a Magistrate Court Judge declined to set a bond on Monday.
Starr (real name Sidney Favors) was arrested for s^xual battery on a 14-year-old boy at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Hapeville, Georgia on Sunday, August 2.
Magistrate Judge John Defoor II deferred setting bond until a hearing later this month. Meanwhile, Favors, 37, will remain behind bars on felony child molestation and s^xual battery charges.
Favors was transferred from the Hapeville jail to the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta. The reality TV star is being held in a special unit for LGBTQ inmates.
A rep for the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office told TMZ, “Sidney identified as someone who engages in a particular lifestyle” during the jail intake interview.
Judge Defoor declined to set a bond during a hearing on Monday. Instead, he deferred the case to Fulton County Superior Court.
The judge also appointed an attorney to represent Favors. The next court hearing is set for August 25.
During that hearing, the court could consider bond or conduct a preliminary hearing if the case has not yet been presented to a grand jury, Eurweb.com reports.
The case has been turned over to Fani Willis in the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
Favors denied the allegations in a statement to TMZ, saying any contact with the minor was “consensual.”
In the statement, Favors “unequivocally denies the allegations” and intends to vigorously fight the charges.
