Police in Mississippi made a third arrest in the ongoing investigation into Nolan Wells’ death. The 18-year-old college football player was found dead near Horn Island, Mississippi, 2 days after partying with friends on July 4.
Edward James Porter, 40, was arrested on charges of transmitting threats in interstate commerce, the Sun Herald and WXXV 25 reported on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
According to court documents obtained by the Sun Herald and WXXV 25, Porter, of Illinois, allegedly threatened to kill Nolan’s friend, Bart Edmiston Jr., and his family. Porter then sent Edmiston his home address to show that he knew where he lived.
Porter’s arrest comes after police detained Joseph Alfredo Vasquez Dumarce on July 30. Dumarce, a 27-year-old Sacramento, California resident, was arrested for allegedly threatening Judge Ashlee Cole, the stepmother of Wells’ friend Warren Hudson. Warren was one of the last people to see Nolan alive on July 4.
Police previously arrested Michelle Francine Edwards of Cincinnati, Ohio, for allegedly calling the George County clerk’s office multiple times and making bomb threats.
Edwards made 29 phone calls, police confirm, including one in which she said, “Do not go outside,” and “the clock is ticking.”
