Singer D4vd’s parents sold one of his Texas homes a month before his high-profile attorneys withdrew from his case.
The-Express U.S. reports D4vd’s parents made multiple financial transactions in recent months.
Property records show D4vd’s father, David Burke, sold a 3-bedroom, two-bath residence in Houston, Texas, for $229,000 in early July.
The singer purchased the house with a $138,000 loan using another Texas house as collateral.
D4vd, real name David Anthony Burke, is on trial for killing his 14-year-old girlfriend, Celeste Rivas Hernandez, sometime in August 2025.
The singer was arrested at a rental home formerly owned by Sandra Bullock in the Hollywood Hills on April 14, 2026.
The-Express U.S. reports Burke “seemingly encountered monetary challenges, leading to his prestigious Los Angeles legal team withdrawing from the case and a court-appointed attorney assuming his defense.”
Burke’s high-profile attorneys, including lead attorney Blair Berk, told the judge they couldn’t defend him anymore. Apparently, he can’t afford to pay their high legal fees. A public defender was appointed to represent Burke.
Burke generated nearly $2.8 million in record sales in the months after Celeste’s death. It isn’t clear what happened to his money.
Burke allegedly killed Celeste and dismembered her body in an inflatable pool in his garage using tools he ordered on Amazon.
The prosecutor’s office shocked the courtroom when they revealed the underaged minor was previously pregnant and had an abortion.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman called the case “a parent’s nightmare” and said Celeste was last heard from on April 23, 2025. She was classified as a runaway.
Hochman said Celeste’s arms and legs were severed from her torso and placed in one trash bag. Her head and torso were placed in another bag and stuffed into the front trunk of Burke’s Tesla.
The EV was parked around the corner from his rental house while he was on tour.
A tow yard worker discovered Celeste’s remains in the trunk after towing the car in September 2025.
