A dead man found wedged upside down in a vent at a soul food restaurant in Atlanta has been identified.
Walter’s Soul Food Cafe employees discovered the body stuck inside the kitchen HVAC vent when they arrived for work on Monday, September 14.
Police and medics responded to a 911 call around 9 a.m. on Monday.
Police say Terrika Myers, 37, accessed the HVAC vent from the roof of the restaurant on Cleveland Avenue in the Hammond Park neighborhood of Atlanta. Somehow he became wedged inside the HVAC vent and died.
Employees told police they saw Myers’ head, arms, and torso hanging out of the vent in the kitchen. His legs were sticking out of the vent on the roof.
Myers was pronounced dead at the scene and his body transported to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Police don’t know whether Myers accessed the roof vent to commit a burglary or to find something to eat. No cause of death was given and there were no signs of foul play.
The investigation into the case continues. The restaurant was closed on Monday for a biohazard cleanup.
