Issa Rae thanked her Instagram followers for supporting Insecure‘s 10-year anniversary. Unfortunately, their support wasn’t enough to save Insecure‘s 10th anniversary tour. The tour was reportedly canceled due to low ticket sales.
Issa Rae, Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Natasha Rothwell and Prentice Penny apologized to fans for canceling the tour. They said they didn’t want the tour to go on if they couldn’t all be there for every date.
The former cast members captioned the video:
“Sorry #Insecure fans if you had intentions of attending the highly anticipated ten year anniversary tour, there’s been a change of plans!
“We are so sorry we had to cancel the tour. We are also bummed. I’m serious. But everybody started working, which is good.”
Issa added, “Unfortunately, our schedules got messed up, and we are so sorry, but we only wanted to do this if we all could be there and give you the best experience possible.”
“We’re all so bummed,” said showrunner Prentice Penny in the video.
Rothwell said, “The tour ain’t happening, y’all. I’m so sorry.”
The cast will still hold a 10-year anniversary in Inglewood, California, on October 8.
Some followers on Instagram criticized commenters for wanting to see Black people fail.
One person wrote: “Why do we always want to see our people fail it’s ridiculous.”
Another person wrote: “Nobody is Interested in hearing from a Colorist.”
A third IG user commented: “They weren’t selling tickets like that lol.”
