First Beyoncé fleeced her fans by selling them an empty box for $1,000, then Jay-Z made his fans download an app for his “listening party” with no new tracks.

Fans complained that the listening party included no new songs after they downloaded an app.

The 56-year-old rapper is being roasted on social media for gaslighting his fans.

“This is indicative of Jay-Z, though, because of the type of person he is,” said a disappointed podcaster. “It’s not good for him to do this… ’cause he know what we expected. He knows as a consumer, we expected him to give us at least a new song,” he added.

Fans expressed their disappointment in the comments on X.com.

One person wrote: “As a Jay-Z fan, I think this is super lame and seems like a corporate greed move.” The fan said Jay-Z made fans download an app to sell their personal info to marketers. “We’ve bought your albums, we’ve streamed your albums, but now you want us to download an app so you can sell our info (because you haven’t gotten enough of our money) to listen to the same music?”

Another person wrote: “Big Hov fan, but yea that was probably not the best thing. I didn’t listen or join coz it never said it was for new music so I figured it was just old stuff.”

A third fan commented: “These old heads are idiots, Jay Z used y’all again.”

Jay-Z is in London, England for a concert to mark 30 years since his debut album Reasonable Doubt and 25 years since sixth studio album The Blueprint.

The concert takes place on Friday, Sept. 4, at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The rapper attended his Jay-Z30 pop-up experience in London’s Trafalgar Square on Thursday. He was confused because he thought it was a pop-up store.

“Oh, really? I thought it was like a store,” he said in a video. “You walked down the middle of it,” a lady told him. She added there were 250 people at the pop-up experience.
