Amber Williams, the mother of the late rapper Rich Homie Quan’s children, says she was left with $8,000 when he died.
The rapper, real name Dequantes Lamar, died from a drug overdose at his Atlanta home on September 5, 2024.
In a recent interview, Amber said Quan died without life insurance or an estate plan. She found herself stranded without direct access to his financial accounts or assets:
“I ain’t thinking about no life insurance. When he passed, I stopped paying on everything. I stopped paying on credit cards… I had probably $8,000 to my name. That’s it. I had to run with that.”
Amber noted that Quan’s father, Corey Lamar, stepped up to help support his grandchildren after his son died.
“His dad definitely been coming through, helping out or whatever,” she said.
The reported $3.5 million net worth for Quan is fiction. Quan and Amber were together for roughly 15 years and shared three children together. He also had a daughter from a previous relationship.
Rich was best known for his 2013 hit single “Type of Way”, his 2014 single “Lifestyle” (with Rich Gang), and 2015’s “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh).”
The rapper died from an accidental drug overdose of fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine, and promethazine.
