A Kansas restaurant owner is under investigation for kissing a 2-year-old celebrating her birthday at his bar and grill. The incident was captured on cell phone video and quickly went viral this week.
The child’s parents were celebrating her 2nd birthday at Stearman Bar and Grill, when the owner wandered over and planted a wet kiss on the child’s cheek before blowing out the candles on her birthday cake.
The mom posted the video on her Facebook account. The video shows her wiping the man’s saliva off her daughter’s cheek.
The mother said the man tried to touch her child again, but she prevented him from touching her. She wrote on Facebook: “At this moment I reached out for my daughter and stated out loud to not touch and kiss other people’s children.”
“In response he told me to ‘go f*** myself’ and then left his restaurant in what seemed like a hurry.”
She said the restaurant staff weren’t surprised by the man’s behavior.
According to KWCH, the Benton Police Department identified the man as an “equity holder” for Stearman Airfield, Deano’s Grill & Tapworks, Oak & Pie, Deano’s on Pier 37 and Morgan’s Steakhouse.
The man, who is White, is being investigated for alleged battery on a Black child.
The establishment wrote a statement about the incident: “The safety and satisfaction of our customers is our highest priority. We are taking steps to ensure that this type of conduct does not happen again.”
