Suno pulled an ad featuring R&B icon Mary J Blige after signing a million-dollar deal with someone claiming to represent the singer/actress.
The AI music app believed it had entered into a deal with the singer to use her songs on their platform.
In the ad, Mary is seen in a studio with a music producer who is working on songs using Mary’s voice. The ad went viral on social media platforms, including Instagram and X.com last week.

However, Mary’s camp made it clear that she never entered into a deal with Suno.

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, a rep for Suno said the company made a deal with someone who claimed to represent Mary.
“We entered into a business deal with someone who presented themselves as Ms. Blige’s official representative. As soon as we learned this was not the case, and that Ms. Blige was uncomfortable, we terminated the advertising campaign,” the Suno rep said.
Record labels such as Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group and Round Hill are suing Suno for copyright infringement.
Suno has signed multi-million dollar deals with Warner Music Group and BMG to use their music for its AI app.
