Taylor Swift Wins MTV VMA Video of the Year

The 2026 MTV Video Music Awards was held on Sunday, Sept. 27, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California. The show was hosted by hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg who presented Taylor Swift with the coveted Video of the Year Award for her hit single “The Fate of Ophelia.”

“MTV and the VMAs have been part of my story since the beginning,” said Snoop Dogg. “Some of the biggest moments of my career happened on that stage and on MTV – they gave hip hop a place to be loud, fearless and seen by the whole world. So to come back now and host the VMAs, all these years later, that’s a full-circle moment for me.”

He added, “Having this show hosted by me, in my city, means two things: one, tonight is going to be the biggest party the VMAs has ever seen.”

Taylor Swift began the night tied with Beyoncé for the most major music awards ever (30 each). But she took sole possession of the most awards ever title with her 2 awards on Sunday night.

Cardi B (pictured in Milan) and Kehlani won the Best Hip-Hop trophy for “Safe.” Cardi’s song “AH HA” ties Beyoncé, Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj for most-played songs on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart. All four are second to Rihanna who has 17 most-played songs on Rhythmic Airplay.
