A Louisiana woman claims Pastor Armonté Wilson, a man of the cloth, scammed her out of $1,000, then used her money to pay for his holiday cruise.
Vanessa Phillips tracked Wilson down on board a cruise ship and demanded her money back.
The confrontation was captured on cell phone video that went viral.
Phillips accused Wilson of scamming her out of nearly $1,100 for her Caribbean getaway cruise. But then he allegedly ghosted her and used her money to pay $524 for his own ticket on a cruise.
Phillips purchased her own ticket on the same cruise and confronted Wilson as he lounged in a Jacuzzi. She demanded the return of her funds immediately.
Phillips and Wilson initially met on a cruise in December 2025, and became friends.
She contacted Wilson who planned the trip on the MSC Seascape cruise ship from Galveston, Texas, on Aug. 30 to Sept. 6.
He asked her for $1,000 to secure the reservations. Then he allegedly ghosted Phillips and went on the cruise without her.
Video footage shows Phillips confronting Wilson as he relaxed in a Jacuzzi with friends.
“You thought I wasn’t going to get on here? You took my $1,100. You thought I wasn’t going to make it? Where my money at?” Phillips shouted in a video posted to Facebook Sept. 5.
Wilson initially claimed he had her money, but when Phillips asked if he had it on him, he said no.
“It’s OK for you to take my $1,100 and you on a cruise … Where’s my money?” Phillips asked again.
Wilson claimed he didn’t take her money, and he called security for help. Other cruise passengers took Wilson’s side in the dispute.

In her Facebook post, Phillips accused Wilson of using fake invoices and fake itinerary to scam her.
“I reached out to [him] and we made plans, plans that included a FAKE itinerary, FAKE AGENT BOOKING NUMBERS, INVOICES and payments sent totaling near $1100,” she wrote.
Wilson later said he removed Phillips from the booking after she disputed her Venmo payment to him.
“Please consider the facts and documentation provided rather than relying solely on portions of the live conversation,” Wilson wrote on Instagram Tuesday.
“Regarding the money that was sent, the transactions have been disputed through Venmo. I understand that Venmo may ultimately rule in her favor because I was unable to respond within the required timeframe.”
He added: “At this point, I am waiting to see how that process is resolved,” he added.

That’s some serious detective work. If you owe someone money, pay up instead of taking a luxury trip.
