Rick Ross turned himself in to Miami Beach police Thursday morning after an ex-girlfriend accused him of strangling her.
The 50-year-old rapper was arrested on battery and strangulation charges, TMZ reported.
Ross, real name William Leonard Roberts II, allegedly strangled the woman on August 28 in the home they shared in Miami, Florida.
The woman told police she was sleeping and he woke her up in a jealous rage over a photo she was tagged in on social media.

She said he accused her of being involved with someone else, and every time she denied it, he slapped her in the face.
The woman claimed Ross struck her in the chest several times, choked her to the point of losing consciousness, grabbed her by her ponytail and slammed her against a wall.
Sources say the woman provided police with photos of her alleged injuries.
Court records show Ross pleaded not guilty to battery and strangulation charges and was granted a $5,000 bond, but he remains in custody.
The news comes a week after Ross’s ex-girlfriend Jazzma Kendrick accused him of busting her lip. She posted photos of her injury on social media.
Kendrick, 39, captioned her post: “I don’t know a lot of things, but I do know that a man that puts his hands on me, is a man that never loved me and never will.”
In a follow-post, Kendrick clarified that the domestic incident happened in August.
Ross and Kendrick started dating last year. Social media users speculated that she was not into him based on her body language.

They reportedly broke up after she rejected his kiss at an event held in Hollywood, Florida, in August 2025.
In addition to modeling, Kendrick is a real estate agent who has closed multi-million dollar deals in Miami, Florida.
Ross’ high-profile lawyers Steve Sadow and Bradley Horenstein tell TMZ that their client is being wrongfully accused by an ex-girlfriend whose true motivations are unclear.
“The ex did not even file a police report until a month after the claimed incident allegedly took place. Mr. Roberts is innocent and has pled not guilty to the charges. He respectfully requests that his friends, fans and the general public not prejudge the situation and allow the judicial process to run its course.”
Rick is scheduled to be arraigned on October 22.
