I just got back from the TLC Laser Eye Center where I went to get an evaluation. This is the same place where Tiger Woods got his Laser surgery done. I planned on getting the Laser procedure to correct the vision in my right eye. But according to the optometrist there, the vision in my right eye is 20/60 and the cut off for the procedure is 20/40!
Isn’t 20/40 good vision? So in other words your vision has to already be good to get your vision corrected which makes no sense.
Anyway, I return home to an avalanche of hate mail regarding the Dru Ski controversy. Most of the mail comes from the “thugs” on Thugboy.com whose covers were blown when I linked to the site yesterday.
Apparently some of you ladies found your men on there.

sandra, you should get a second opinion on the lasik. i had BAD eyes and got mine done at Woolfson, who does the ATL Falcons and GA Force. http://www.wolfson.com. i know there can be other factors that preclude lasik but you should check into it. in fact, i purchased custom lasik w/a lifetime guarantee of at least 20/40 (which is required to drive a vehicle).

It’s one thing to post and blog about the industry and the “famous”, but to deliberately make a spectacle out of someone (especially their orientation or lifestyle)is another. i went to go get laser evaluation and the dr told me that for the increase in short vision, there is a lost in distance vision. and that you still need reading glasses after the surgery. he also said, that even tho the surgery goes well, you eyes my react differently and have a ton of problems. many people have sun light sensitivity and night blindness after the surgery. after he told me the risk i said forget it and went back to contacts and glasses.
What a loser !! What do you think this is for?? if we want to know about “pressing issues” we’ll watch the news! lol this is an ENtertainment blog…not CNN! and obivously you read too so dont judge her readers!! and dont use God’s name in the same sentence as profanity!

At the end of the day, if it bothers you, don’t read it. Its down to personal choice..the information will be there whether you like it or ot. If i see an article that i don’t like, i just don;t comment..and i don;t read it..i simply move on to other things.. teecee, with any surgery, there are risks. i’m putting my experience out there because i couldn’t see my alarm clock next to the bed and now i’m just loving this!
for anyone that’s interested, you’ve got to find the best and most experience optometrist and lasik surgeon. they both kinda work together.
– i can’t speak on short vision vs. distance vision but i don’t have problems with either now.
– people with certain pre-existing conditions are not good candidates. for instance, if you suffer from occasional dry-eye, lasik is not good for you. after the surgery, i had extremely dry eyes but it went away after about 2 weeks. also, i had light sensitivity for about a week or so, as well. those sound like post-surgical issues that usually take care of themselves.
– also, if you have really bad vision, you may need a re-touch; it’s best to get the guarantee. i needed a re-touch in one eye after it dropped from 20/15 to 20/50 in a year. the re-touch took about 30 seconds and i’m good now.
– night vision (mostly driving because of the glare of the streetlights) may have very slight blurriness. if you drive at night alot, you will have to get used to it or you can get a small prescription to help out. this is not that major unless you are a truck driver or have to drive often at night.
– needing reading glasses is a function of age. the lasik surgeon and optometrist should explain that eventually, EVERYBODY needs glasses to read. the lasik procedure simply delays this need. and for us, it will be the $10 ones you can get off the rack at wal-mart. there are also things they can do during the procedure to adjust one eye to function as reading glasses.
– the surgery will perform well the better your eyes are now. there is also a variety of different surgeries depending on your current eye condition. lasik is not just one type of surgery.
this just for those who are contemplating. as indicated above, it is a risk but the rewards are justifiable.
