Police in New York City want to speak to the boyfriend of a nurse who was found strangled in bed in her Queens apartment on Tuesday.
Samantha Stewart’s brothers found her body after they couldn’t reach her by phone and she failed to show up for work at North Shore Hospital in Manhasset.
Samantha’s 17-year-old brother Keniel told the New York Post that he and his brother discovered their sister’s body on the floor in an upstairs bedroom of the family home in Springfield Garden.
Stewart was strangled to death. Her naked body was wrapped in a blanket, and police say her teeth were knocked out.
Stewart’s father, Kenneth, said he is “heartbroken and devastated.” He said Stewart was one of 7 children. “She was very sweet, beautiful and charming,” he told ABC7.
Kenneth said he suspects the killer is her boyfriend — a man the family has never met.
Surveillance video shows the man arriving to Stewart’s home and leaving a few hours before her body was found, according to CrimeOnline.
“Why, why has he done this to us, why, what’s his reasoning,” said Stewart’s aunt Ruby Dixon.
She described Stewart as the “shining star in this family,” and she said her patients had “the joy of having a loving nurse” taking care of them.
