Legendary egomaniac Sean Combs’ latest publicity stunt has many New York subway riders confused and bewildered.
According to the NY Daily News, signs at entrances to the Prince St. and Spring St. subway stations in Manhattan were artfully altered Tuesday to read “Last Train to Paris 12.14.10,” in reference to the release date of the Diddy-Dirty Money album yesterday.
Immediately after the signs were switched out, subway riders began calling the NY Daily News with complaints.
People dressed as train conductors also took to stations and hollered, “All aboard! Last train to Paris!” Inevitably, the switcheroo confused some tourists. “It could definitely mess me up. It’s my first time in the subway,” Virginian Katie Hubbell, 20, complained in the N.Y. Daily News. “Paris could be a part of the city.” Said a Prince St. station worker as he removed one of the signs, “It’s stupid. The signs confuse people. We have a lot of tourists. They don’t know. This is just confusing people.”
Combs is pulling out all the stops to prevent his sixth studio album from bombing like his previous musical projects have. Insiders say Combs has spent over $1 million promoting the Dirty Money album. According to industry estimates, the CD is on pace to sell 56K in the first week.
MAYBE IT’S ME
WHY WOULD YOU THINK YOU WERE BOARDING A TRAIN TO PARIS ANYWAY
56K? Really…
I get what the rider was saying….how the crap did he get permission to switch the signs like that. I guess Diddy still runs the city?
the should have iphone and get the subway app on there phones like i had to do when i was there lol
Not a smart marketing strategy. This city is hard enough to manuver without stunts like this.
*gasp* a picture where Diddy’s mouth is closed….
The fact that they are calling his promo stupid says it all!
@East: Phukk yo IPhone nikka!!
*snatches your IPhone and throws it againt the wall*
P.S. I still love you

You have to close your mouth when you are swallowing the rest of your dignity.
I don’t like this guy. He tries too hard to be cool and gets on twitter and does Youtube vids and remides us why he will never have any class. 5 kds and proud, all baby mamas, never married.
I fcks with Dirty Money tho…
HIS …yeap SO DO I … LETS GO

You wanna dress up in matching Dawn and Kaleena outfits and pratice a new routine
I won’t lie Im going to spend my money on last train to paris I would’ve done that without him spending a 1 milli to promote
That’s pretty funny. The album is actually okay.
Anyone confused by that sign is not very bright and likely doesn’t have the intellect to navigate the subway system anyway. He did create buzz and that was the point. As for all the money spent on marketing, that’s ok. That’s Dawn and Kaleena’s cut. Diddy gonna be just fine.

The only bomb out of P.Shytty’s albums is the last one…”Press Play”…all the others went platinum and reached at least numma 2…I don’t like his mouf breavin azz…. but the man puts out some good music…
Are ppl really that slow? I’m always amazed by what people will go for. SMH.
I like the album, BTW.
That’s Dawn and Kaleena’s cut. Diddy gonna be just fine.
Heyyyyy OtBizzle
@Cha, as IF u had to ask
Heyyyyy His
Nipples still on swole up your way?
LOL
@yvonne
done make me grab that big EVO of yours lol but u can get the app on your android 2 so you not left out lol
I don’t think its a matter of whether people are slow or not. People who ride the subway everyday probably didn’t even notice the sign. Its the tourist that are trying to get around via subway. This idea was not well thought out, IMO.
@east:
Mkay. You are SLOW if you go to a city (known as unfriendly) unprepared…as a tourist.
whats funny is as terrible as New yorkers are about helping people when i was on the train anyone i asked actually helped i was shocked

56k? really lol, he did way too much promoting for it to only do that amount. But anyway, yall know he is doing this because he is bored. LoL @ don and kalenna cut. Don has the most to lose though. Kalenna still has her writing group, diddy is straight, what is don going to do after this?

Paris, NEW YORK?!?! Really?! They don’t have maps in Virginia, I guess.
Maybe you should have got lost. It’s called Darwinism, natural selection, thinning of the heard, etc.
They say set your sights low so ppl can meet them.
I have to remember not to be so polite sometimes. Everybody doesnt appreciate my constant use of manners.
It’s called Darwinism, natural selection, thinning of the heard, etc.
I lub you guhl.
I’ll just wait on his sales. I’m betting the dollar amount he spent on promotion wont equal his sales.
heard = herd
And I lubs you too OTB. :hugs:

I agree. I have never been on a subway. Visiting a city you are unfamiliar with and if you do not know Diddy’s new CD date and name it would be a honest mistake.
Tourists might get confused, and it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re slow or stupid. New York City is one of the largest cities, if not the largest, in the world. There’s obviously a lot of of subway stops with thousands of different names.
And it’s common for many cities to have names of boroughs and neighborhoods that share the same names of other places in the U.S. as well as other countries. I’m sure most of the confused people didn’t belive there was actually a subway train ready to travel across the ocean to Paris France, but it’s very possible that many of those tourists believed there was a place called Paris in NY after seeing the sign. Here in Pennyslvania, there is a town called Calfifornia and another town called Beverly Hills. There is a city in Florida called Hollywood, and a city in Tennessee called Cleveland.
diddy and his money…O my brother
@ Amatrex :thumnsup: point understood … but I think I would second guess it because of the “LAST TRAIN” part. Is there not a conductor that could explain? HMMM neva been to NY so I would not know and if I was to go I would be extremely confused and overwhelmed… DIDDY YOU ARE THE DEBIL
No the tourists are just slow and annoying. Half of them have maps and ask people anyway…if your not going to “Paris” then ask the MTA if you’re confused. Plus it’s not like that would be the only stop if it’s alluding to a destination..the fact that it says “Last Train” would give it away to me. Paris really? The train conductors don’t come out the subway to announce things, it isn’t the MetroNorth. After going down to the subway, you figure that out after taking in the scenery.
I’m sorry but if I’m in New York tourist or not, I know that the New York subway doesn’t have a rail going all the way to Paris #cmonson
Besides the trains have numbers/letters that are marked on the platform, entrances, train carts, etc. You end up going to specific trains because you were told that’s how you get there.. Out of town or not, our subways don’t have titles like that. As soon as the train arrives it announces the destination. They would have been confused by “This is the 5 Train to Dyre Ave” then
i’m glad none of y’all (i hope) work with public transportation. just because you don’t think you’d get confused doesn’t mean someone else will or they’re stupid. u want to make a buzz do it some other way besides disrupting the metro. i’m pretty sure they didn’t authorize that. they get millions of tourists (slow or not) so why cause anymore hassle than necessary.
oh thank you chase i know who to look for next time i get lost on NY subway train but trains i havent had a problem with. i remember i was looking for Bape store in soho folks wouldnt even stop if you say excuse me excuse me lol. i ended up finding the store myself by mistake. no one bothered to tell me there are two parts to greene street i was walking forever lol
THANKS 38, 39 AND 40… I really wanna go to NY…. thats my dream destination.

@ChaCha – I travel a lot and NY is on my top 5 but I’ve never been. Been out of the country many times and all over the US but not to NY. I want to go around Christmas time too (I know, I’m crazy)
@Candi I dont work in public transpo and couldnt because I think of it as a self-serve type of system.
And I expect selves to have a little sense. BUT thats why I stay in my lane.
LOL I wouldnt do well in Customer Service either.
Me: *irraitated voice* “Did you flip the switch that says “ON”?
I get it though. More of a bother than anything. Its NY though peeps. Im mean you may be in the middle of a movie.
#teamPuffy

Shoot I was born and raised in NY and I had trouble finding the Bape store when hubby and I went.. That part of the city will get u confused real fast…
“I want to go around Christmas time too (I know, I’m crazy)”
One of my dearest coworker friends just returned from NY. She has crazy blisters and maybe even a little PTSD. BUT She said she loved every minute and it is beautiful right now, what with the xmas decor and all.
#jealous
When I go next week I am gonna take lil man to see the xmas decor…
east you be errr-where. Where you go “computer school” in my Boogie from Kings of Comedy voice
@East: Totally agree, that BAPE store is miserable to find. Went one time and one time only. Couldn’t believe how small it was and to make matters worse left empty handed.
This is one time where the word narcissist is an understatement (Diddy would probably take it as a compliment). But I can’t knock Diddy’s hustle too much and the idea of Dirty Money is fun. On one hand I can see why some would get confused especially if they never heard of the CD “Last Train to Paris” but again who would think a subway train would gounderground
Dang Chase you going for Christmas..If I didn’t have little ones that would be a great idea.
@OTB – I think it’s the best time to go. Everytime I see NY on tv around the holidays it’s just so beautiful.
I want to go a bit after Christmas so I can also be there for NYE. Maybe in a year or 2. :praying:
Daisy – did you get the other CDs you wanted?
@ Shauny my Grandmother makes me come up there for every holiday and every family event and will pay for us to come if the ticket prices are to high. I left NY 2 years ago and she wants to see us every chance she gets..
I love being in the city this time of year, its the best!!!
@ Shauny
It’s beautiful because they are showing you the good attractions lol. Other than that if you dont like crowds, noise or rude and annoying people this is not the place to come lol. On a serious note you would have a good time. Its alot of stuff to do here.
Lived in nyc my whole life and still get lost in the city. heck…i tell people i don’t know where anything is, i usually find while i’m lost
the mta system is complex enough as it is. they were trying to be cute and it wasn’t. it doesn’t make take much to throw the whole system outta whack,. ie. stuck train, someobdy sick on the train, so why not just keep it simple….
@robin
as much trouble i had finding that store i bought up half the store lol i came on a good day they had just recieved a shipment so everything i wanted they had my size
I’m still mad the CD wasn’t on sale. And “Loving You No More” isn’t on the album….only the DELUXE
no no. this album will sell. Sean’s albums do sell, what you talking about Sandra.

Sandra you’re so messy :lolol:
lol yessssssssssss! it’s from the breakfast club morning show….i think from yesterday morning
i could see how that could be confusing in NY if you’ve never been or are not from there. would I think paris, france? prolly not. I would think along the lines of jewtown, chinatown, ya know, a small part of NY at the most.
the marketing was lame though. just put up posters in the subway. what does the last train to paris mean anyway?
Live band, thought provoking lyrics, evolving musicality, providing constructive opportunities for people of color and changing the look of “Rich America”. I fuxs wit Diddy Dirty Money too.
Not nan nother kid out of wedlock, though
please and thanks.
The people are no slow. It can be confusing to “TOURIST”, not the everyday people. Having just came back from NY myself, the subway system is already very confusing enough. Like they said, a tourist could mistake that thinking Paris is a name of an certain area within the city as most areas there does have their own name within the city.
*The people are “not” slow*
This is not a flattering pic of him. His face is made for shades – go get’em
