Rapper Nelly won cool points with his kids and the younger generation by sticking up for Soulja Boy while calling Ice T a “f*ckin’ geezer.” I totally agree with Nelly when he says Hip Hop is by the youth, for the youth.
So why is Nelly’s old ass still rapping? Why are LL Cool Jay and the old geezer, Jay Z still rapping? Now I’m hearing Queen Latifah (who’s pushing 40) is readying her rap album for a December release.
Whether they know it or not, these old rappers are fast becoming irrelevant. The kids are the main consumers of Hip Hop and these kids don’t want to hear their fathers and aunties rapping.
Step aside old geezers and give Hip Hop back to the youth.
And who has a album coming?…. **wait** Nellie.. He need to sit his azz down. this is soooooo old azz news!1
what-the-fluck-eva
omg…nelly needs to go sit down somewhere. I agree with Ice T…That mess by soulja boy is ridiculous I cant stand to hear it. Nelly and many others don’t seem to understand the children that we are raising today are listening to this clown say “supa-soak that H*^” .Just listen to the lyrics or at least read tham and tell me why these teenage girls think this mess is cute?
sorry about that I meant to say read them……
As long as the music is good I don’t think age should have anything to do with it. There isn’t a rule book on rap. LL is still doing it… Jay is still doing it… this is their jobs their lives… there’s no cap on singers, dancers, actors or even politicians. So why does it have to be one on the one thing that can make a black man some money?
I co sign ^^^^
nelly need to take that damn chewing gum rapper off his tooth and sit down the diff between most old heads and young rappers the old heads could at least rap!!! now all you got to do is make a dance and get paid
they are PIONEERS. without them there would be no soulja boy with his little annoying azz self. they sell millions of records but they NEED to learn to respect their elders and give thanks that these folks took the time to pave the way for their lil ungrateful azzes. according to folks back in the late 70’s hip hop and rap was supposed to be a “fad” to get folks over the loss of disco. i think it is us the black commuity that is still having the last laugh…30 years later.
so sit down soulja little boy……
it’s interesting to hear how everyone defines rap music as they see fit…
well i’ll agree the youth buys the bulk of rap music. i do think if ll, jay-z and latifah have it in them to put out a project, so be it. they dont obviously expect their numbers to be stellar as in the past, but just to have a project out for their die hard fans (i think) is what it’s about….
FANS buys cds and come to shows. it’s unlikely ice-t fans are fans of soulja boy and vice versa. no surprises here. old geezer. haha
Im really at a loss for words on this one….she I go with the irrelevant rapper from the future, or the irrelevant rapper from the past??……Maybe hip hop is dead.
Nelly is only in his early 30s , Ice T is more like 49. Nelly is way more in touch and relevent to the rap game than Ice T,although he is a pioneer, he shouldnt speak on how and why souljaboy or any other new artist is successful or not IMO… Nelly looks good when makin his points though, I love when interviewers ask about the Tip Drill video,he gets even sexier when he’s mad……:)Sandra can we have some Nelly morning wood please??!!!
^^relevant*** my bad
LOL @ the chewing gum wrapper comment. I remember back n the day putting reese peanutbutter cup paper on my tooth.
dead @krysi j. cause you are right. both are irrelevant in ANY tense (past, present or future)!!!
@candi21 i want some ll cool j morning wood (has he already been morning wood?) but i’ll take nelly too.
Okaayy…I agree with what Nelly is saying. Soulja’s Boy’s music is for the teenagers, the same way Luke was for the teens back in the day. I know when I was coming up, my grandmother would be like “Doo Doo Brown, what kind of sh*t you singing about?” But we loved it and couldn’t nobody tell us nothing. Can’t nobody lie and say when you heard “I wanna rock…I wanna rock…I wanna rock” that you didn’t know the party had officially started. But anyway, why are we still talking about this, didn’t Ice T make those comments like 2 – 3 months ago?
My point is…and what Nelly was also saying…Everyone has a lane. You don’t have to listen to it, but there are those out there that enjoys it. I know people who hate Nelly (NOT ME), but love Flo-Rida (who I think just jacked Nelly’s whole style). But you like who you like, it all makes money. People put too much energy into nonsense like this. SMDH!!
I am a JAY-Z STAN so he could put out an album at 50 and I’ll still buy it. That stuff soulja boy puts out is crap. Half the time I don’t even listen to the radio. Then I kept hearing my daughter sing that Marco Polo song with Soulja boy and bow wow. I didn’t think anything of it until a friend of mine pointed out that he says “Last night your girlfriends forhead was on my abs” Our kids sing that crap and don’t know what the heck they are singing.
It’s ruff when a rapper has to ride the coattail of SB for album sales……..
Nelly betta get up off Ice T….OG still got pubs….LMAO
I hope this Nelly statement is old because the Ice T/Souljah boy beef is. And they can’t keep rooting for Souljah Boy all they want, his career is a wrap anyway.
iguess nelly wants SB listeners. thats sad because he should have his own. nelly is also old compared to rap standers and he would kill for 40 yr old rappers career. jay z, ll cool j will smith…..
I love hip hop regardless of age, but Soulja Boi is the equivalent of Vanilla Ice back in the day, hot for a second, then being a reality star 10 years from now My 9 year old nephew can’t stand at all, he would rather listen to old school hip hop like A tribe called Quest, and Eric B and Rakim.
Ain’t nobody checking for Nelly’s DL azz, Ice T’s old azz and Soulja Boy’s wack azz. Chile boo.
