Rapper The Game incited a Twitter flash mob to call and tie up phone lines at the LA Sheriff’s Department — a move that could bring criminal charges.
According to TMZ.com, the rapper tweeted the number to the LASD yesterday and urged his followers to call the # if they wanted to intern for him.
His tweets resulted in hundreds of calls flooding the LASD switchboard for 3 hours, preventing emergency calls from getting through.
Once the LASD tracked down The Game’s tweets, Sheriff’s Capt. Mike Parker tweeted him with a warning that his tweets were compromising public safety. The Game responded: “Y’all can track down tweets but you can’t solve murders? Dat was an accident but maybe now yall can actually do yall job!!!”
The Sheriff’s Department plans on filing a complaint with the district attorney’s office which could lead to charges of interfering with a peace officer in the line of duty.
That’s something I would not have done. Especially flooding the switchboard, that was dumb.
The Game’s tweet does have a point though…

I hate to admit it, but he has a point. It seems as though, they are mad because they interrupted their nap time. I am no fan of the police,…for obvious reasons. But I would NEVER intentionally ruffle some feathers just for the hell of it. The Game is bolder than I am, that’s for damn sure.

Duh. I’m pretty sure it’s a lot easier to track down a tweet, being that it’s the Internet, then solving a murder which would require evidence. The Game should watch The First 48.

I saw that. It’s not okay to shut down cell phone service. Looks like we’re learning a thing or two from the middle eastern dictators clinging to power.
The Game is another entertainer that should have his tweets reviewed before they are sent. I’m not a fan of the police but there could have been an actual emergency (life/death situation)that would have been put on hold because of him. FYI to The Game you do not speak for the people. He has good intentions but goes about them in a stupid way!

Ok………didn’t he initially deny that he sent the tweet? He pretended that his account was hacked and now he’s acting like his stunt was done with a purpose and a message? Really? Tracking down the tweet wasn’t that difficult but solving crime when faced with budget cuts and staff cuts is difficult.
@Elove, I read about the situation with BART blocking wireless service to prevent people from discussing a planned demonstration. The demonstration didn’t even happen and now BART looks even worse.
He said it was an accident in which case this LASD is wasting time and energy complaining about nonsense…. which they do alot. The los angeles police department and sheriffs are some of the most corrupt, lazy, racist, ignorant, dumb and trifling officers in the country and had that been another artist who made the mistake they would have immediately chalked it up to being an accident and simply tweeted a statement to stop tying up the phone lines and explaining. and before anyone says anything yes there are exceptions to every rule, unfortunately anytime I’ve had to deal with the LA county sheriffs or LAPD I’ve been screwed over and treated like I was lower than dog sh!t so

Easy way to confirm if it was an accident or not is for him to present a similar number where a typo could’ve happened registered to him. All in all Game is lame and ain’t nobody checkin for any music from dude unless maybe if you from the west coast.
Police grimey as hell wherever you go/at.
Also, I’m sure they didn’t have to “track” him down. If folks really thought they were calling for an internship they would say, “I’m calling regarding the internship for Game” when they spoke to whoever picked up.

Always thought most ‘gangsta’ rappers had a no snitching policy (or atleast pretend to) when it comes to assisting officers with crime solving in the hood. Guess the game is different.
