I’m sure if kids don’t grow up around each other or their mothers have ill feelings towards each other.. they will consider themselves half. I didn’t meet my dads oldest kids (twins) until they were 16 and I was 12/13. Had always heard about them though. Never thought to call them anything BUT my brother and sister. As with my other brother who is 11 months older than me. His punk azz has and always will be my brother. I think because my dad was so involved in our lives ( well… me and the brother right above me.. the other two were told my dad was dead up until we met.)

I have a half brother and sister and they are just my brother and sister. I don’t use half for siblings, great aunt/uncle or 1st, 2nd, 3rd for cousins etc. You’re just my brother, sister, cousin, auntie, or uncle.

Me and my sister work @ the same place. We have the same mom. My dad helped raise her, but I got her daddys last name ( don’t ask.. we are 11 years apart). They ( these ritz’s) constantly want to refer to us as half sisters..it doesn’t help that my dads sister ( my aunt) works here too. They can’t figure us out.. specially cause my aunt is mixed!!! “How is she your aunt, but not your aunt…”
And they worked here before I did.. had to hide our relationships until I got the job…smh

His father sees to it that even though they don’t live together they grow up together (he should since he was the one making babies everywhere. <– hope that didn’t sound bitter bc I have moved on and am in love) & I love it that he keeps them together… since her other siblings are much older and he is my only one I think its important. One of her other brothers is about to have a baby and even though that boy isn’t related to my son.. You can’t tell him he’s not about to be an uncle.

@kymystery where did you read about Seal and Lupus? The reason I ask is because my mother died at 36 from lupus complications, all my blood work says I have Lupus have some mild to moderate symptoms so far. I do get the butterfly rash sometimes tho wonder if that will happen to me or my aunt who also has it.
Oh and I agree with Iscream about the womb thing unless its a situation like another poster said if they grown up together as brother and sister. My sister and me don’t have the same father, but I’ll be damned if Ima let somebody call her my half sister SHES MY SISTER. I have a brother and sister by my dad only and thats what I call them “my brother and sister by my father”
@Wiggy isnt there like 3 forms of Lupus? I have a gfriend who has Lupus but she said there are 3 different kinds. She doesnt get sick that often she is in her 40s. She will have a sick spell every now and then though. Bless yalls heart!
@ Daisy, thanks I only know of two but I’m going by what my mother told me years ago. I will be 40 in February and thats how I am get a sick spell once in a while and my joints hurt baaaad depending on the weather
