A Republican federal judge in Kentucky jailed a Rowan County clerk who refused to issue a marriage license to gay couples.
Kim Davis, 50, was jailed on Thursday for contempt of court by a federal judge who said he didn't believe Davis would comply with his order if she was fined.
Davis told the judge that her supporters were raising funds for her.

Professor Ninian Peckitt, 63, was "erased" from a registry that recognizes licensed doctors in the UK. The medical board found that Peckitt was unfit to practice medicine after the surgeon punched a patient in the face 10 times while he was under anesthesia in the operating room.
