Whoopi Goldberg is suspended for 2 weeks from ABC's The View after uttering divisive Holocaust comments.

ABC President Kim Godwin announced the suspension in a statement on Tuesday, Feb. 1, hours after Goldberg apologized on-air.

"Effectively immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments. While Whoopi has apologized, I've asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments. The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family, and communities."

ABC staff expressed outrage after the network dismissed demands to fire Goldberg for saying the Holocaust wasn't racist because Jewish people and Nazis are white.

"The Holocaust isn't about race. No, it's not about race. It's about man's inhumanity to man," Goldberg said last week while discussing a recent ban of a Pulitzer Prize-winning book about a Holocaust survivor.

Goldberg disagreed when co-host Ana Navarro said the Holocaust was about "white supremacy".

"But these are two groups of white people," Goldberg stated.

On Tuesday, Goldberg apologized on-air before interviewing the CEO of The Anti-Defamation League about anti-Semitism.

"I misspoke," the 66-year-old comedienne and TV host said. "It was about race. I stand with the Jewish people, as I always have."

Goldberg, who has insisted she is Jewish, was criticized on social media for continuing to use a Jewish surname.

ABC's employees are outraged after the network dismissed demands to fire Whoopi Goldberg for saying the Holocaust wasn't racist.

More than six million Jews were murdered across Europe during the Holocaust between 1941 and 1945.

On Monday, The View co-host claimed the Holocaust was not "about race" because Nazis and Jews were both white.

She then doubled down on the claim on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Monday night.

Goldberg, born Caryn Elaine Johnson, is convinced she is Jewish. "My mother did not name me Whoopi, but Goldberg is my name," she said. "It's part of my family, part of my heritage, just like being black... I just know I am Jewish. I practice nothing. I don't go to temple, but I do remember the holidays."

She also said, "people would say 'Come on, are you Jewish?' And I always say 'Would you ask me that if I was white? I bet not.'"

Whoopi's mother, Emma Johnson, reportedly said the family's slave name was "not Jewish enough" for Goldberg to become a star.
