Jonathan Owens, best known as gymnast Simone Biles' boyfriend, was among the players waived by the Houston Texans ahead of the upcoming season.

Owens, who was cut by the Arizona Cardinals in August 2019, signed with the Texans practice squad in 2020.

Rumor has it that Owens was cut because he spends too much time on social media with Biles and not enough time focusing on his game.

The 26-year-old safety was on the Texans practice squad for six weeks until he was called up again last January.

Owens and Biles recently celebrated their one-year anniversary. He is often seen kissing and cuddling with Biles in a plethora of social media photos.

The 24-year-old Olympic bronze medalist gushed about Owens to PEOPLE.

"I love watching him play because he has such a passion. He works so hard, so for him to be able to showcase that on the field is really exciting."

On Sunday, Biles shared photos of Owens during practice. She wrote, "watching #36 on game days is my favorite." He commented, "Your my favorite [sic]."

Since returning to the U.S. for the Tokyo Olympic Games, Biles has been catching up on quality time with Owens.

Fortunately, they will have a lot more time to spend together during the upcoming NFL season.

Gymnast Simone Biles of Team USA settled for a bronze medal in the Women's Balance Beam Final in Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on Tuesday, August 03.

The 24-year-old athlete came in third place in her last opportunity to earn a medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. She has won a total of 7 medals in two Olympic Games.

Simone was criticized for quitting when she landed awkwardly in the vault during the women's team final last week.

She claimed she quit for her "mental health" and she blamed "the twisties" for feeling awkward during her routine.

Simone also pulled out of the women's individual all-around final, the vault and uneven bars finals to focus on her mental health.

China's Guan Chenchen (center) and Tang Xijing (right) won the gold and silver medals in the balance beam respectively, with the 16-year-old and 18-year-old earning respective scores of 14.633 and 14.233.

Simone placed third with a score of 14.000, while her U.S. teammate Sunisa Lee came in fifth position with a score of 13.866.

The balance beam is Simone's last chance to win a medal at the Tokyo Olympics - USA Gymnastics officials confirmed on Twitter on Monday: "We are so excited to confirm that you will see two U.S. athletes in the balance beam final tomorrow - Suni Lee AND Simone Biles!! Can't wait to watch you both!"

Simone previously won bronze on the beam at the Rio Olympics in 2016.

Explaining her decision to pull out of the events earlier in the Tokyo tournament, Simone revealed that she has been suffering from the "twisties" - which many gymnasts describe as a form of mental block that stems from disorientation during tumbles and somersaults.

Her error resulted in a low score of 13.766 for the team, opening the door for Russia to win the gold.

Sunisa "Suni" Lee, from Saint Paul, Minnesota, won a gold medal during the all-around final on July 29, recording the highest uneven bars score of the day. She is the first Hmong-American to win an Olympic gold medal.

After Simone dropped out, Suni, 18, scored 15.400 (tying the highest mark of the competition), and helped Team USA win silver behind the Russians.

Team USA gymnastics fans dragged Simone Biles for quitting after an uncharacteristic stumble on the vault apparatus at the Tokyo Olympics.

Shortly afterward, the embarrassed gymnast left the stadium with her trainer and a member of the medical team.

It was later announced that she'd withdrawn from the final because of a "mental issue."

Biles told reporters she pulled out of the Olympics to "focus on my wellbeing... And you know, there's more to life than just gymnastics."

She told the Today Show:

"It is very unfortunate that it has to happen at this stage because I definitely wanted this Olympics to go a little bit better but again, we'll take it one day at a time and we're going to see how the rest goes."

Her departure drew comparisons to tennis star Naomi Osaka who withdrew from the French Open to focus on her mental health following criticism when she refused to speak to the news media.

Others say young athletes like Biles and Osaka are more interested in the instant gratification of social media than the delayed gratification of working hard to achieve greatness.

One Twitter user wrote: "I knew it as soon as I seen her boyfriend I knew simone was going to. Be trouble."

Another user tweeted: "I'm telling y'all, man, Simone Biles is performing poorly because of having a boyfriend. Less concentration on her art, more concentration on getting some D when she gets home after training lmaooo."

And a third wrote: "blah blah, excuses, blah blah, weight of the world, this is not your first competition, this is not your first olympics, just say you got a shiny new boyfriend, thats all."

Biles, 24, and Owens, 26, have dated for a year. She previously dated fellow gymnast Stacey Ervin.

The brother of Olympic gymnast Simone Biles was nearly attacked in an Ohio courtroom after a judge acquitted him of triple murder on Wednesday.

Tevin Biles-Thomas was accused of a New Year's Eve 2018 shooting at a Airbnb house that killed three people, Johnson, 19, Toshaun Banks, 21, and Devaughn Gibson, 23.

The courtroom erupted after Judge Joan Synenberg issued her ruling at the Huntington Convention Center in Cleveland.

A woman rushed toward Biles-Thomas and yelled, "I'm going to kill you."

"You have to be f----ng kidding me... "He killed my baby! You know he killed my baby!"

Three sheriff’s deputies tackled the woman before she could reach the defendant.

"We get it, she's angry. She was led to believe Mr. Biles was guilty, when he wasn't, and she reacted like a mother. We don't fault her for that," Joseph Patituce, the defense attorney representing Biles-Thomas, told Fox 8 Cleveland.

Simone Biles made her rumored romance with NFL player Jonathan Owens Instagram official -- after scrubbing photos of her previous boyfriend from her social media accounts.

"It's just us," Biles captioned the image. Owens, 25, who signed with the Houston Texans last September, responded with red heart emojis.

Rumors that the two were dating sprang up weeks ago when Biles wished Owens a happy birthday, according to Instagram blog The Shade Room.

"Hope this year brings you everything you want & more," she wrote.

Almost immediately, the bisexual rumors started, as Owens looked a little too effeminate for The Shade Room's tastes. Neither Biles nor Owens addressed the bisexual rumors.

The 23-year-old Olympic gymnast spent weeks scrubbing hundreds of photos of ex-boyfriend and fellow gymnast Stacey Ervin Jr. from her accounts after three years of dating.

Biles confirmed their breakup earlier this year after her followers observed Ervin was noticeably absent from her social media.

"It's hard being young and having that long of a relationship and then ending it," the 4-foot-8 gymnast told Vogue. "But it was for the best."

Biles' friends and followers warned her about plastering her love life all over social media even before the breakup.

Apparently Biles isn't aware that social media has been dubbed the silent relationship killer.

Simone Biles is keeping a low profile after her brother's arrest on murder charges. Biles' boyfriend, Stacey Ervin Jr., posted an inspirational message about his sweetheart's family tragedy.

Biles' brother, Tevin Biles-Thomas, 24, was arrested and charged with murder in connection with a triple homicide at an AirBnB party in Cleveland eight months ago. He is being held in a Florida jail without bond while awaiting extradition back to Ohio.

Biles-Thomas is accused of killing three people after a fight broke out at a party in a $155 per night AirBnB apartment above a pizza parlor in January.

Biles-Thomas was arrested on Thursday at Fort Stewart in Georgia, where he was on active duty with the U.S. Army.

Biles’ boyfriend, Ervin Jr., is featured very prominently in numerous photos on her Instagram account.

He spoke out about the family tragedy in an IG post on Friday.

"The strongest people I’ve ever met have not been given an easier life," he wrote. "They've learned to create strength and happiness from dark places."

Biles, who is on tour, posted the above image which she captioned, "Missing you a lil extra today," to which Ervin, a gymnast turned pro wrestler, replied, "I miss you too babe I'll see you very soon!"
