Al B. Sure not expected at son’s Super Sweet 16 party
Friends of New Jack Swing singer turned radio jock Al B. Sure say don’t expect to see him in Atlanta at his son Quincy Brown’s Super Sweet 16 party this weekend. Apparently Al is not happy that his son recognizes rap mogul Sean Combs as his father. “The theme of the party is ‘Stuntin Like My Daddy’ and Al is not stuntin’ like that,” said a friend of Al’s yesterday. “A lot of people are confused about that,” said the New York area source. “It hurts him to see his son look up to another man who is wealthier than he is and can provide a better life for Quincy.”
But what kid wouldn’t want to be considered the son of a flamboyant entertainer like Sean Combs? It’s easier to impress your friends when you claim a daddy who is a multimillionaire mogul vs. a radio jock who is barely making ends meet. Quincy is an impressionable kid. A couple of years ago I received a phone call from a friend with an urgent request. She wanted me to search the Internet for a photo of Quincy seated next to Sean Combs at court side during the NBA Finals. It was a special request from Quincy himself who needed the pic to show to schoolmates the next day. The friend indicated that finding the photo was extremely important to Quincy.

I have decided to keep mum on this topic until after the party. If Al doesn’t show up I will have lost all respect for Kim and Diddy as parents. I don’t care how much money my mate makes, I would never try to replace my children’s real fathers who love them. Diddy is not with Kim anymore and he was never married to her. I stand by my assertion that Quincy is nothing to Diddy. As a man who is on the road constantly, I doubt he has spent much time with him.
As for Quincy having to go to someone who had to go to Sandra Rose for a pic of him and Diddy, GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE WITH THAT SANDRA! I’m sure he has multiple pics of them together. Why would he need to ask a stranger to find one for him?
I feel bad for Al B Sure. That can be one of the worst things that could happen to a man- one of the worst feelings in the world. Maybe Quincy doesn’t understand now, he’s still a child, but once he matures, he’ll understand later. I wonder how often Al B Sure even see’s Quincy. That is another question.
I agree with Bird: It seems like Quincy would have a photo of him and Diddy already. It just doesn’t make any sense.
DAMN that Quincy is a spitting image of AL!!! I had to do a double take to make sure that wasn’t diddy’s arm around AL!
This story is fishy…if Al was a constant figure in Quincy’s life than he should ne called his father but if his ass wasn’t doing **** and Diddy was supporting them than what is the fuss about!!!
I am going to hush until I see the episode…he might be there and we all got cake on our face following rumors!!

Well from the source it sounds as if Al WAS invited but declined to go because of the theme of the party. *which if he has always been there for his son, is understandable* It’s really hard to weigh in on this subject, when you don’t have all the facts. Has Al supported Q financially all this time? Does Al have a relationship with Q? How often does he make an effort to see his son? Is he a birthday, X-mas father? What has Al done to keep his relationship with his son? etc…. If this is a father who hasn’t been there and called every once in a while, Puhhhleezze sit yo azz down somewhere but, it could be a daddy who has been there as much as he can, and not being able to do as much as diddy, but has always contributed. Without those facts how can you really call it?
I will still say, I have never seen except for the article of Kim, Diddy, and the twins in Essence and the day one of the girls had his AE card in her mouth; Diddy with any of his kids and Q was not pictured. I’m not sure how much time he spends with any of his kids, but by the pictures it looks equal. If Al has always been there for his son I can see him being pissed as hell, if he hasn’t been, I feel he shouldn’t be pissed because another man is doing what he should have been doing all along. *And because Q doesn’t want for anything, I’m talking little about finances*(sp)
Diddy’s done it again!!! Don’t y’all see this is all good promotions!!! Al B. Sure hasn’t been in the news this much since ‘85. LOL! Nobody cares about this mans feelings!! (bored blogger: I have no life. what has Al B. Sure been up to I wonder?) Plus, when was the last time anybody saw an episode of Super Sweet 16? Show of Hands? Hhhhmmmm? Anybody? Because the show has become played!!! They have resulted to doing celebrity b-days, and they know this child is not going to bring in the ratings Chris Brown did so they have to promote harder. Stop believing the hype people!!

I’m with you and I think this whole story is suspect. We are basing our opinions on what Sandra has told us about the event and we all know Miss Sandra is not beyond pulling our legs.
if this is true. i blame kim. yeah that boy is is turning 16, but he’s still a child. and unless he has money to pay for this party himself, the theme should be something else.
i mean really. what would be the harm to change to theme to something more original and more neutral?

I really don’t blame Al B Sure. He is after all the boy’s FATHER. I wonder did Combs even involved him (Al B. Sure) in the planning. If he didn’t, I think it’s very disrespectful. Besides I am tired of Combs, every since that cheesecake thing. (ha ha) The dang nerve. Why are all these folks spoiling children this way. The whole meaning behind the “Sweet 16? has changed something awful over the years. Yes, that day is special, but give me a break. The boy’s MOTHER should step up and say something.

That’s why I say I really can’t say anything about this. I don’t know what kind of relationship Al has with is son. Al is not a public figure so we are not bombarded with pics of him and Quincy. Maybe that does make him a wimp at the very least. My child’s father would throw a fit if some other dude was taking his role publicly. I just don’t know. We’ll know after the party, because I’m sure Sandra will let us know if Al showed up.
When I heard a week ago what the title of the show was going to be I was confused too.
But as I said in my previous post my son is going so I will find out by Saturday night if Al B. Sure showed up and whether he was invited.
In the midst of the whole hype in this show I have found out how fake the show really is, Quincy’s birthday isn’t in December. LOL!
The Father part is no big deal, because nothing can change the fact of who is the real one. What bothers me is the fact that Diddy is nobody role model and I could care less how muck money him or Kim spend on a party for this young man.

I don’t believe Al ever played a significant role in little Quincy’s life. The party theme is “Stunning Like My Daddy”, not my father. I believe it’s very clear that Diddy is Quincy’s daddy. Anyone can be a father. It takes a very special man to be a daddy, especially to someone else’s child. Al needs to sit has butt down.
i blame kim if this is indeed true. the tuth remains to be seen, but it was up to THE MOTHER to make sure the child knows and respects who and what his FATHER (not daddy) is. even if al was a bum on the street, quincy should acknowledge that is who laid down with his momma and created the life that he is. wow. just wow.
i have a 12 yo daughter and her father is not as well off as my husband and i, but she knows and respects who her father is. i have even had to loan him money to take her out for a burger but SHE doesn’t know that. and really to be real, her father really COULD be a bum on the street but she is a daddy’s girl through and through. she loves her father with all her might b/c that is what i have taught her. and he loves her right back. i guess she is lucky to have TWO daddies….
KWallace - At 16, Quincy has his own perception of his father. The one his father has given him, nobody else. Kim doesn’t carry that burden. That’s a burden Al carries because of the presence or nonpresence he has chosen to have or not have in his child’s life. I don’t fault Kim for this at all. It’s obvious she makes every effort for Diddy to be able to bond with his children. Al has to want to be a part of Quincy’s life. I commend Puff for stepping up to the plate and being a daddy to Little Q.
I think this issue is deeper than what meets the eye. Why? Because, Kim was Al’s girl/baby mama (in his Natalie video etc)before Puffy started working for what was once “Uptown” and clearly there was some sort of love triangle there; along with the fact that Puffy and Al were supposedly friends. Quiet as kept, Kim was once viewed as an industry groupie, and back in the day a blind mind could have seen that Puffy aka Diddy aka Mr Sean John had a business sense (whether you like him or not) while Al B Sure was becoming played out.
I say all that to say, I think issues that have long been dormant between Puffy and Al B. “as men” are at the root of the ruptured relationship between him and his son. And at the end of the day it is simply unfortunate that Qunicy is in the middle.
I’ll add to that and say NO it’s not Kim’s fault. However, 3 kids and no real commitment later, I dont really see her as the type that tried to foster a relationship between Quincy and his biological father. Anddddd while Puffy is to be commended for stepping up and playing Daddy to Quincy, he need to get somewhere and throw a birthday party for that daughter we all now know about (TAKE SOME PHOTO OPS WITH HER IN ESSENCE!)that is his own FLESH and BLOOD!
This is just my vantage point on the situation…not the gospel.
