Remy Ma Locked Up For the Next 8 Years
A Manhattan judge sentenced rapper Remy Ma to 8 years in prison for shooting her former best friend in the gut. Her mentally-challenged boyfriend, rapper Papoose kirked out in the hallway outside the courtroom.
- The rapper Papoose exploded in a fit of anger outside a Manhattan courtroom this morning just moments after his tearful bride-to-be, Remy Ma, faced down an eight-year sentence for shooting a woman outside of a West Side hot spot last summer.
“Get the fuck off me. Fuck ya’ll. Fuck jail,” screamed Papoose as his 10-person entourage restrained him and court officers told him to move it along and exit the hallway outside of Manhattan Supreme Court. “I don’t care. Lock me up. Lock me up. Take me to jail. Arrest me. It’s all about money.” (Source)

Remy Ma’s jailhouse nuptials were abruptly called off Monday when her rapper groom, Papoose, showed up with a most curious wedding present: a handcuff key.
“A wedding was scheduled today and a visitor to that wedding service was found to be in possession of jail contraband so the wedding was canceled,” a correction official told the Daily News.
“The key that was found today easily opened handcuffs that we and other law enforcement officials use,” the official said.
Now the 29-year-old Brooklyn-born Papoose - real name Shamele Mackie - won’t be able to see his fiancée until November.
“The visitor was sanctioned by not being able to visit Rikers Island again for six months,” the official said. “He was asked to leave.”
So was Papoose trying to break out his rap queen, whose real name is Remy Smith, from the joint?
Neither his or her camp were saying - but Remy has every reason to be eager to get cut loose.
The 26-year-old Terror Squad rap princess faces up to 25 years at today’s sentencing for shooting her friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the stomach last July outside a Meatpacking District club.
Papoose was not charged after he voluntarily surrendered the key to authorities.
He was quickly ushered out of the jail and never got to enter the prison island’s Rose M. Singer chapel in which the two were set to say their “I do’s.”

“This is somewhat of a pattern. This is not the first time she has been engaged in a violent act. She never took responsibility for her actions,” the judge said. “This has nothing to do with rap it’s about the actions of one person. Remy is an extremely angry young woman who feels the rules do not apply to her.”

Everyone is mentioning her son, and feeling sorry for him..I ‘ve felt sorry for him since I read an article about her in Vibe a few years back. She was saying how much he looked up to 50 and how she didn’t see anything wrong with that! She also didn’t see the problem with violent video games, videos etc. She went on to say someting like she was going to keep it real with him and blah, blah, blah. I was mortified. Here in New York, because a gun was involved, she has to do at least 85% of her time, hence the Shyne situation. He’s not eligible for parole until October 2009. There are ways to get out of it, like work release or halfway programs, etc. But you still have to do 85% combined in the system.

When will people realize that there are rules for white people and then there are the rest of us. A person of color is just begging for trouble when they go out of their way to display reckless behavior. It’s hard enough for the rest of us who live on the right side of the law. Even then, we realize that when you’re not white, you are always on the wrong side.
Her problem is that she was trying to prove that she is indeed the hardest chick in the game and she ended up paying dearly for it. Have you heard any of her old records talking about how she was gonna give a chick an abortion with her bare hands. I don’t feel sorry for her. Well u rah that’s what happens when you shoot someone; accident or not…it’s a shame that now she is just realizing that it wasn’t that deep; life is too short but we make these dumb snap decisions over foolishness. We all know the way the laws are written, that the system isn’t a perfect system. So i won’t waste my time and get into it. The cops got off, because the DA didn’t prove their case. I Live here in NY, so i know. The DA put a half ass effort into the (imo), and couldn’t counter anything the defense put up. And there were many other reasons, but the two don’t compare, if you followed the cases you would know…..im not gonna get into it.
Remy walked around like she was above everyone. Everyone saw remy shoot this gurl, and then take off. I mean wtf…over some $$$…and her supposed friend. Remy had been ****y (imo) during the trial. She really thought she was going to get off. As if its okay, to shoot someone, and you can go about doing ya thing. I don’t feel sorry for her. 8 years,…..she got lucky.
8 YEARS?? That woman should have gotten the maximum penalty. not only did she shoot her friend…clearly with the intention of killing her. It was only God why that girl didn’t die and Remy woulda been doing a life sentence now. But after the shot the girl, she first said she didn’t. Then after she admitted it and said the gun ACCIDENTALLY went off. You shoot your friend ACCIDENTALLY and you feel no remorse for what you did. That’s sad and I don’t even think the 8 years will change her from the person that she is. However, it will keep her agressive, crazy a$$ off the streets to be shooting up other people.
