Do we really need a Janet Jackson reality TV show?

Janet Jackson and MTV have kissed and made up. It’s the least they could do since the network (and JD) helped to ruin her career. Now comes word that MTV has green lighted a reality TV show where Janet will go on the search for the next Superstar.

According to Variety, Janet is developing a music competition for MTV. “It’s really about finding who’s the next Janet Jackson or Justin Timberlake or Usher,” said exec producer Dave Broome.

MTV’s cameras will follow Janet into YMCAs (?), church groups and local community centers to cast hopefuls. Producers haven’t decided what to do with the winner yet. Maybe he/she will get two tickets to Jackson’s upcoming tour?

I’m yawning already.

I look forward to seeing the show, but what will they do to overcome Janet’s severe shyness? It’s painful to watch her interviews. I can’t imagine what a reality show will be like with her at the helm. For that reason alone, I want to see how it turns out. She’s my girl so I have her back and wish her luck.

I don’t think Janet is meant to be Hollywood slim. She has to work too hard to maintain it. A Marine recruiter recently told me that he thinks that whatever weight you are at after 6 weeks of boot camp is the weight you should be. His logic was that for that period you are forced to eat healthy and exercise and if that doesn’t get you skinny then you weren’t meant to be skinny. I believe that.

good for her. i think it’s time janet seriously start transitioning from FT singer to having more of a tv or big screen presence.

She’s an icon!!! Why are they watering her image down that’s why artists like MJB ( MJB is the girl!!!) are surpassing her now. I don’t understand why is he doing the Mariah Carey with Janet….. nooooo that is a horrible mistake. Janet can make an tour off her old material and sell out more crowds and venues than with the new material. They are not marketing her right in my opinion!

I am still a Janet fan but if she is going to do a reality TV show, I would prefer it to be like her myspace journel video blogs or a least follow her on tour and get the behind the scenes, days off shit. Im not sure if Im ready for another R U the Girl (TLC) show
