From Riches to Rags

This is Kocky K. He doesn’t have a record deal yet, but that doesn’t matter because in his mind, he’s ballin’. Remember the days when rappers started out hungry and appreciated any love we showed them by supporting their music? Then when they made it big they bought homes for their moms and gave back to their old neighborhood?

Well, those days are long gone. The time honored tradition of working hard toward your goals doesn’t mean a thing to these guys. Nowadays, every rapper is ballin’ and flossin’ before he even signs a record deal. They go from riches to rags when it should be the other way around. When they finally do “make it” they don’t appreciate the fans who got them there unless they’re on their knees in a hotel room.

This is why Hip Hop is dead because of all this fake posturing and stuntin’. This is also the reason why entertainers like Young Buck and Ron Isley end up owing the IRS millions.

Oh, you think because you’re paid cash for nightclub appearances and don’t report any of it to the IRS that they won’t know? You thought wrong!

Here’s what the IRS does: they watch you and they calculate your net worth by adding up the retail value of all those luxury vehicles they see you driving, the homes you say are yours, the cash that you flash and toss up in the clubs, and the bling you wear on your neck and wrist. Then they present you with a fat tax bill!

Oh, you say the cars aren’t yours – they’re leased? And the homes are too? And the diamond bling is fake? And the hundreds you’re tossing in the clubs are counterfeit?

Tell it to Uncle Sam because nobody cares anymore.

Holla at Kocky K on his Myspace.

Well he must be an idiot because when those Jordans that hes wearing on his feet were out I use to pay $50, not because I wanted to be in the in crowd but all my shoes back then cost $50 , so I just decided to buy the Jordans because they lasted longer (this is when Nike would wait 3 to 4 months before a new pair was brought out). That’s why in 2 to 5 years they are going to jail because they can’t pay their taxes and end up bankrupt.

Best statement made all year. Unfortunately we have accomplished to put value on all the things that have no value. Instead of buying a house that can increase equity we tell others that you are not doing it unless you have 26″ rims on your car. If you are not driving a Benz, you are nobody and broke. Who the F**K introduced “Making It Rain” if this is not the dumbest and most ignorant ish ever. Throwing money in the air to show people that you don’t know and that don’t give a damn about you that you are “ballin”. Dumbasses x2. I rather drive a 1993 Honda Accord, have a nice crib and know that I have several million in the bank and live of the interest. Hell if you got millions and hypothetically speaking you would put it in an ING Direct account where they pay about 4% interest, you would get $80,000 per year and that is a decent living for a few people and guess what you ain’t even touching the 2 mill.

I am glad that the music industry is in dire straits, I can’t wait until the wack-ass-ness is completely weeded out and only the true talent can go back to making memorable music

I agree with Sandra. I think it’s worst here in NYC because it’s not only the performers who think they’ve made it without selling one record. You’ve got club promoters and even f*ckin regular party goers thinking they are celebrities. That’s just a sad indication of the times. You get groups of 20 people using their food and pamper money to buy 3 bottles of way overpriced booze in the club just so they can floss and be photgraphed behind the velvet ropes for the night and dance on a couch…ridiculous…
