Sandra, your site is a source of conflict for me. I disagree with a lot of your own personal opinions about the subjects captured here but at the same time I appreciate the content because your site is one of the few that provides an authentic source of celebrity news & gossip. I have a problem that “gay” is ok today. It’s on TV, it’s everywhere you go. I don’t care what anybody says, trying to defend or what ever. It isn’t natural. I’m guessing that you’re in your late 20s or early 30s? Gays were more “out” when I was in my 20s (20 years ago) than they are now. Maybe you didn’t glimpse that video with Benny Medina that I posted yesterday? It was very chic to be gay in the 80s until HIV/AIDS came along and decimated the club scene. AIDS killed off ALL of my gay friends in the 80s. No one was left standing. For awhile, many gays were ostracized due to the stigma of AIDS and because AIDS was incorrectly labeled the “gay” disease.
The reason you see so many “out” gays now is because society has learned to be more tolerant of lifestyle choices. By referring to me as a dyke you display your ignorance because you’re posting comments on a dyke’s blog. I too am a man. I was raised as a man. I was taught to provide for my family. I welcome this role and the responsibilities that comee with it. I protect my mate and children at ALL costs and will take any man, woman or the like to task that try to prevent me from doing such. I act like, dress like a man and have never wanted to be with a woman. I’m just a pretty regular dude that happens to love other men. There are people just like me that you may work with, worship with, work out with, hang out with every single day. As Sandra says, people like me are being upfront and honest with what we’re bringing to the table. What is a “real” man? Is a “real” man the type of dude that has 3, 4, or 5 women all across town with 1 or 2 babies with each of them? Is a real man the good right Reverend Jesse Jackson who created a baby out of wedlock and embarrassed his family, most namely his wife Jacqueline and his faith? I’m just trying to see what “your” definition of a “real” man is because there seem to be many variations and I just want to be on the same page as you for the sake of this conversation. I never said I planned on conceiving with a man, but hey maybe I can have fun trying. Okay jokes aside. I’m in the process of adopting and the process will be complete in the next couple weeks. It took almost a year of getting my home ready and going through the necessary classes, screening process, etc but it was worth it. Funny how I was taken through the ringer to see if I was “fit” but Shanequa can just open her legs up at 10 and 2 and pop them out as she sees fit. Also, I had very strong male role models in my family, so I guess you’re saying that my real male role models were able to teach me to be a “non real” man? Does my sexuality make me a “non real” man? Does that make you a “real” woman for judging someone solely based upon their sexually? I mean I’m just trying to figure it out.

Thinking back when I was younger I remember looking at some dudes and thinking well he’s nice looking, attractive, handsome or whatever. The irony is girls check each other out all the time and nobody thinks twice but if one dude compliments the next there seems to be something wrong with that. Anyway, it didn’t become sexual (in my thoughts or actions) until older. I wasn’t molested, I didn’t play with dolls and I have never had the desire to dress like or act like a woman. I had girlfriends all through school and even into my early 20’s and then it changed. I went back and forth for about 2 years until I accepted it for myself. I come from a large family (we’re close sometimes and extremely dysfunctional but we all love each other and refuse to let any outside influences break down our familial unit) and as long as they were cool, I had nothing to worry about.

Were regular people, i just work for a hospital studying to be a doctor and my bf is a supervisor of a customer service company called “checkfree”, and we were just visiting angela and vanessa simmons and we got caught by the camera crews wearing there shoes,ha ha.

As I said in my earlier comment, the percentage of gays who were out and proud was equal to or greater 20 years ago than it is today. Society is being exposed to gays on a grander scale through the Internet and cable tv.

@Sandra Rose. I was under the impression that Dyke was the term for females that dress and behave like boys. If the term is incorrect that enlighten me. I have been around a few and that was the term they used and they were ok with it.

@ H Town Shan - Let me just explain my view to you. We were put here Man and Female and we are very different in many ways but the differences are what require us to be together. Man are naturally stronger, women can bear children, women are more nurturing, etc.. our genitals have been perfectly built for each other and serve the purpose of reproduction and to make us feel good to ensure reproduction happens. 2 women and men can’t. I think we could go on and on about this topic.
Another thing you said you will adopt, have you ever considered what that kid may go through being raised by 2 gay men? Did y’all just say that the kid will just have to deal with it. Did you maybe think about that the kid may resent you for it later on? I get your point that you will provide a good home, etc. but I think that there are lot of different aspects to look at for a good home because at the end of the day when that kid goes to school it will be by him/herself. He/she will want to have friends that want to come over, have sleep overs. Do you just expect for them to accept it because this is how you live? I say this because I had a drug addicted mother amongst other things. I know what goes through your mind as a child when you look how you live and how others do.
I also feel that a big number of homosexuality is by choice and NOT because it is just that way. The big thing that amuses me about gay women, that they say that men made them that way. I am sorry but the gay women I know have more drama than a man and a woman could ever have.

The comments on this post today are an absolute reflection of the TABO topic of being GAY in Black Society, Does anyone agree that the TABO affects the MEN more so than the WOMEN. I can appreciate everyone’s opinions and I don’t feel in my heart of hearts that I have a malice spirit towards GAY’s…I have to admit however that my opinions of GAY MEN are not as laid back as my opinion of Gay Women and I am not sure why.

What else am I, as a black woman, going to have to contend with in terms of seeking a mate? and though some of you will say, GOD will bring you your mate, I am still human. NOW I have to deal with another man being my competitor another obstilce to contend with. I come from a household where my uncles and my maternal grand father came home with calloused hands, dirty boots and a dingy uniform, they came home to a bathtub of water and dinner on the table. The women in the house didn’t take out trash, they didn’t lift heavy objects they didn’t fix cars and they didn’t do yard work. The men in the house didn’t do dishes, sew, keep house or do gardening. That is my image of a REAL man. I have not got to the point where I can use that phrase in refering to a man that wants the intimate touch of another man. Some one may read this and deem it ignorant and rightfully so..because true to the defintion of ignorant, lacking in knowledge; unlearned, lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject or fact, I am at present, uninformed and unaware.

You mean like we’re okay with the word “nigga” until some other culture uses it? Dyke is a derogatory term used to describe lesbians - not just the ones who are butch or dress like men. It is offensive just like the word “faggot” is offensive to gay men. However, I use the term faggot to describe those down low individuals like Gyant who prance around pretending to be straight.

I honestly understand where “dblaq ” is coming from. I think far too often we think because we are a certain way and didn’t decide to do something then it becomes ok. Often in life we have a cross to bear. No one likes to be told that they were created with a flaw or them being themself is wrong. dblaq simply stated that he doesn’t care what you do but as far as the practice of being homosexual he does not think it is right. I once knew a gay man that is no longer with us. Years before his death he was born again..aka became a Christian. Now..yes it is 2008 but read your bible..read about why Sodum and Gamora was destroyed.
