I know this is late but I just saw it last night. At first I was ready to clown Mr. Knowles for defending his daughter Solange against a Houston DJ who called her the B-word. But after listening to the audio and reading this article, I now have a newfound respect for Mr. Knowles.
What father wouldn’t defend his daughter after some idiot DJ refers to her as the B-word live on the radio? I was impressed by the way Mr. Knowles kept a cool head and even injected a little humor into his rant.
I laughed out loud when Mr. Knowles told the jerk DJ that for someone living in Houston, “You are talking a lot of smack, sir.” He repeated it just for affect, but the DJ didn’t realize he had just been threatened by a smooth operator. And later Mathew said to the same DJ, “we will meet.”
Lol, how gangsta is that?

I heard this yesterday.He act like Houston owe him.She was out of line and could of kept her cool.It’s not like anybody cares for her.Let alone Solange is grown.She can handle her own problems.I know if that was me, my dad wouldn’t be in the picture.I would had to defend for myself.And in this case Solange can’t fight for herself.

yeah i always knew mathew was gangsta. and tina has been known to put a cuss down on somebody too. they trip me out like their daughters are just so precious. i know everybody is like that with their kids but i learned long time ago you cannot expect everybody to love your kids as much as YOU DO!
Solange needs a CHAPERON.
this was not necessary. the media is the media. They will distort things, if and when they can. I know its hard for celebrities, but if you know you are getting your money try not to let us bother you.
Granted we are all intitle to our own opinions. However Solange over heard the producers talking about addressing Jay’s club before talking to her album. First of all if I’m doing an interview I’m looking only to speak about my album and what I have going on. If they wanted to speak to Jay about his issues then bring that mutha on TV and interview him. Granted what we didnt hear what the producers asked Solange on the air for us to be like ok she was right. This is a situation where u either believe them faux bastards said what they said or she is either a lier take ur pick. I take her side. She stood up and let them know she wasnt about to address his current issues. I dont see what she said being a problem. I would of said the same thing if it was me. And know I’m not on the Solange band wagon I’m just saying speak up for what your willing to talk about and let however know u aint about other people business but your own.
Nobody owes him shyt or his ugly azz daughter…It trips me out that mathew knowles and beyonce want to act all gangsta, like they really bout it..well let me just say this, i know people that if he would have talked to them the way he talked to these radio personalities, he would be found in a lot with two to the head and that’s real talk, cause where i come from, you want to play like you hard, well you bout to get tried. We all know they are not gangsta, but they are greedy and don’t take rejection well. They have that “everybody must love us” syndrome, and everybody dont. You can see it in his marketing style, where he throws beyonce (and not all his artists) down our throats, whether we are responding good to the music or not…
Solange may have written a bunch of popular songs, but nobody really cares. All the songs we hear have been written by somebody, and some of them people remain nameless, cause nobody cares enough to figure out he wrote…they just equate the song with the artist.
Mathew and the rest of his family are sore losers. And trying to create this hard image for solange has backfired. She looked like a plain idiot cause even if that’s what she heard on the radio show, her response was inappropriate and it made her look like the special idiot she is. She hasn’t been out long enough to pull any type of diva antics, nor is she cute enough to carry it off. So of course people were offended. Mathew should tell solange to shut up and not talk and speak for her, just like they told beyonce. They all sound country as hell and stupid, including the parents, as if they all have 5th grade country educations. The whole family in my opionion are pathetic greedy people.

I didn’t hear the interview so I’m speaking in general terms here…but I know that if my daughter’s father heard someone call her a bytch on-air for something she said or did to someone else, he would have been on the radio defending her, or at the very least letting the dj know that it is unacceptable for him/her to call his daughter a bytch. So for that I don’t have a problem with Mathew. Like any parent, you defend your child’s honor, ESPECIALLY your DAUGHTER You may take your kid to task privately for their inappropriate behavior, but you are not gonna let somebody call them out of their name on live radio.
@ladyrazor, I think the way she spoke up was not smooth enough. Her choice of words could have been better. She just sounded like, “I thank y’all wus unprofessionul in how y’all intraduced meeee.” I work in corporate america, and I know damn well she could have polished that statement up a little better. First of all, when you correct someone, and especially her being who she is as such a lady, she should have done it better. It’s good to speak up for yourself, but be right. And if you are wrong, just say, “I apologize” and keep it moving with out slouching like you’re ignorant.

i know i tell my nieces and lil chick cousins, all women need at least one man who is willing to crack a shot gun for them. once people find out you have someone willing to do that, they treat you a whole lot better. they know i keeps mine in the corner here loaded and ready just in case you need it.

beyonce who hit it big early probably really only does have a 8th-9th grade education. but i was thinking the same thing. mathew needs to invest in some classes for his entire family on how to interview and how to interact with the media.

it isnt so much as firing the gun, but having someone there who is willing to fire the shot gun. noe i got a base ball bat here i dont mind swinging, but im older now, the double barrel sawed off shot gun is easier on my back. lol
