LisaRaye dedicates her birthday to raise funds for Turks and Caicos

Turks and Caicos First Lady LisaRaye will dedicate her upcoming birthday celebration to raise funds for Turks and Caicos residents who are victims of Hurricane Ike.

On Sunday, Sept. 7, Hurricane Ike roared through Grand Turk island with category 4 winds causing extensive damage to about 80% of the homes. Hundreds of residents took refuge in shelters and many were left homeless.

“They got hit really, really bad,” Premier Michael Misick said Sunday morning. “A lot of people have lost their house, and we will have to see what we can do to accommodate them.”

Misick’s wife LisaRaye who is separated from her husband and living in California, is doing her part to help the residents. According to LisaRaye’s publicist Lynn Jeter, LisaRaye will celebrate her birthday at The Area Nightclub, 643 N. La Cienega Blvd. West Hollywood, on Tuesday, September 23.

In lieu of gifts, LisaRaye plans to ask guests to donate to the cause.

Confirmed celebrity guests include Wendy Raquel Robinson, John Sally, Sanaa Lathan, Elise Neal, Stacy Dash, Brandy, Malik Yoba, Kenya Moore, Alex Thomas, Tamela Jones, Kim Whitley, Judge Mathis and more.

All media are welcome to attend the party.

Thats a nice gesture on LisaRaye’s part, but umm dont they hate her over there? Thats what I read somewhere and saw a video of them proclaiming their dislike and disgust over her…..

That may be true, but with 80% of the homes damaged, the people really need help. You know the U.S. is not going to step in to help.

Is Lisa still trying to remain married to this dude? I mean it’s one thing if you can work through numerous infidelities, but it quite another when those infidelities have scandalized you in the public’s eye and got your ass beat on top of that. Does Lisa have no funds of here own that she needs Premier Missick this badly? She didn’t get anything from being Gary’s sideline ho for how many years? I want to feel bad for her, but she created this karma for herself chasing married men all that time.

Being from Florida and being living through numerous hurricanes and a former Red Cross employee, any help is good help regardless of who its from. Relief was immediately sent to the Tsunami victims and other foreign regions that experience disasters, but I have yet to hear mention on CNN or any media outlet that aid is being sent to TCI. You see Wyclef has to help Haiti when the hurricanes beat those poor people up each season.

Whether or not its being done to save face or get the people on her side, good for Lisa. Everybody needs a little help after a natural disaster. Ive seen pics of the damage that Ike caused and its really bad.

Not sure how the British help them out, but if their gov’t is anything like the US government then private funds will help before the bureacratic red tape is sorted out to get the ball rolling.

@#20 you sound like us. every day there is some new shyt going down here as the newspaper biz goes down the toilet. i have removed all of my personal items (pictures, little odds & ends) from my desk and cleaned out my files. for everything else i pure keep a box under my desk so i can toss my shyt in there “when the day comes” so i can get up outta here as quick as possible. so i can refrain from causing a scene.

it burns my ass when they do things like this or live aids and shyt and it’s us giving the money, all cuz we see their faces…yet they walk away with good publicity and swag and shyt.

Ok all. Morning meeting lasted until right before lunch, which was 1 1/2 hrs longer than usual for a Monday. Funny watching our plant manager try to direct the meeting with beet red coloring. You could just feel the heat. Don’t know what was said behing closed doors (I just wish I could have been a fly on the wall). But for now, that ends my excitement for today. The announcement was made, e’rbody acted like they didn’t know, congratulated my boss, went outside for a smoke break, talked about his a$$, came back in and continued on with the meeting.

Of course, I’m going to take all of your advice (pack my personal items in a box under my desk, watch out for gun shots, keep my office door closed, sneek out the back way after work, look for strange cars in the parking lot, . . . )
