Police Identify Body Found in Truck as Julian King’s
[UPDATED Oct. 27, 2008 11:21 am]
A child’s body was found in a white GMC Suburban at 1313 S. Kolin Avenue on the West Side of Chicago this morning. According to neighbors, police at the scene identified the body as that of Julian King, 7, the missing nephew of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson.
His mother Julia Hudson, 31, was accepting friend requests on her Myspace page this morning at least an hour after the boy’s body was found.
The truck was found about 13 miles from Jennifer Hudson’s childhood home where the bodies of her mother and brother were found shot to death early Friday (SEE MAP).
A neighbor called police at 3 am this morning to report the vehicle had been in the neighborhood since Saturday. The neighbor looked in the truck’s window and spotted the decomposing body of a boy. William Balfour, who is estranged from Hudson’s sister Julia Hudson, was arrested late Friday at the home of his pregnant girlfriend — a few miles from where the truck was found.
Balfour was released to the dept. of corrections early Sunday for violating his probation in a case unrelated to the murders. He was not charged.
The truck was towed from the scene an hour ago. A Chicago police spokesman released no information about the discovery.
An Amber Alert was issued Friday after Julian was reported missing after a family member found his grandmother and uncle shot to death inside the family’s home in the 7000 block of South Yale Avenue.
Missing from the home was Jennifer Hudson’s brother’s 1994 white Chevrolet Suburban with Illinois license plate X584859.

It’s God awful what happened to Jhud’s family… I still can’t believe it…I had her in my thoughts all weekend. I can’t even imagine how hard it could be for her… But after all of this, I hope she stays strong and continues to shine.

I am at my desk in tears. I have a 7 year old son and I cannot imagine a day without him. My heart breaks for the family.
The Chicago Sun-Times says the boy matches Julian’s description, but hasn’t been identified yet.
Let’s pray for the family of this child - whoever he may be.

I went by the house on Saturday and I can’t even describe in words what it felt like. I’m at a loss because finding Julian alive was the only thing the family was holding on to.

The family’s faith in God is what will carry themn through, and I hope they find those involved, and they’re punished to the fullest extent.
When I first heard I felt sick and if I had been standing my knees would have buckled. I’ve said this before; life is unpredictable, short and a onetime deal. Jennifer Hudson has been living the American dream where everything seemed to be perfect. She won an Oscar, “Spotlight” is # 1, “Bee’s” is a hit movie and she got engaged. Out of nowhere she is blindsided; not with losing a movie role but her mother (and brother) who has probably been her biggest fan and supporter. And the manner (death is death) in which her mother and brother were taken with no warning, no nothing is a triple blow and unimaginable. For some reason when I heard what happened these are the things I thought of. My heart aches for Jennifer and her family. I don’t have to know Jennifer Hudson to know that her life will never be the same and I pray that her faith is as strong as it’s always appeared to be because this is no doubt going to test her faith like nothing has ever before.
May the Almighty bless and cover their family.
I know all too well about tragedies. DOUBLE losses at the same time. I’m a lil numb right now. It’s been almost 10 years and it seems like yesterday. EVERYDAY SEEMS LIKE YESTERDAY! I totally and truly KNOW what they are going through at this time. I’ve prayed that NOBODY would ever have to experience a loss of this magnitude ever in life. IT IS HARD TO RECOVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i held out hope over the wkend that he would be found alive…someone stole the truck, kidnapped the boy, killed him, then dumped the truck on the westside of town…the person of interest wasn’t charged…there are so many unanswered questions about all of this…i can’t imagine burying 3 very close family members…

TMZ is saying its the boy because the SUV is the same type that Jason (Jennifers dead brother) had.

Sometimes, when you hear sad stories on the news. You feel bad for the people involved and go on about your day.
This feels different. I’ve had them in my heart all weekend. I’ve lost a mother and it was devistating. Even when you “know” it’s coming, the heartache can be unbearable.
To have the wind knocked out of you like this, i just can’t image how it feels.
My prayers and deepest sympathy goes out to the family.

From a medical perspective…there is no such thing as a perfect crime. They will get caught! But, it almost seems like the investigators are not prepared for a case of this magnitude and they are 10 steps behind! They need to snap out of it.
Even if they don’t catch whoever did this, will meet the only true judge and jury. May he have mercy on their souls!

I can’t remember where I read it but a witness said the truck had been there since Saturday. Sounds suspect to me.. How can you overlook this truck when you know the police were looking for it. You mean to tell me that the damn truck was sitting there the whole mf-ing weekend and nobody identified it? You can’t knock ppl for what they do or DO NOT believe. Some ppl were just raised differently. Eventually, ppl go through life changes and they have to step back and evaluate where they’ve been and where they are headed. Things always happen for a reason.

On the news, they are saying that the murderer’s (I believe he did it) girlfriend lives 6 blocks from where they found the baby….one channel talked to a guy who said he called police SATURDAY about the truck being there…

That was my theory also. I think he knew his gravy train was over. Living here in Chicago I know that area and it baffles me why her family was still there! That’s one of the worst neighborhoods in the damn country.

If I were a family member who went to a website seeking support from fans and genuine people I wouldn’t want to be exposed to speculations and other negative words/comments etc. Not saying I would turn to the web, but some people find comfort in strangers.

This was my thing though, the MF just got finished doing a 7 year stint for attempted murder so why in the world would she find it hard to believe that he committed these murders. Additionally, the authorities are now saying that his girlfriend (not Jennifer’s sister) contradicts his alibi for the time of the murders. Ok, MF got a girl so why the F%*$@!@$%$&%^*& is he still bitter?
We see it all the time when parent defend their kids to the end. Evidence can be a mile high and they still are like no, my son/daughter did not and could not have done this.
Can some parents speak on it (not that your child has done anything so heinous)? But as a parent would you defend your child till the very end knowing deep down that he/she committed the crime? I am not a parent so maybe I cannot relate.

Yea, I know it happens all the time but I just wanted to hear a parent’s perspective because I am not a mom. But if you look at any high profile case whether a man or a woman the parents defend their child to the end even when evidence says otherwise.
But on the flip I am not judging because I am not a parent but I have always wondered because it’s different when it’s you. I wonder if I ever do become a mom what would I do in that situation.
Right or wrong though parents are the ones who will love you no matter what and at the end of the day that’s what parents are suppose to do. You can hate the act of your child but it doesn’t stop the love.

That may be true, but Chicago is known for certain things and robbing celebrities is one of them. Just last year Antoine Walker (NBA) and Eddie Curry (NBA) were robbed and they lived in great areas. Maybe her mother was religious and felt safe. I just have so many unanswered questions about them living there.

If I meet old boy (he is ugly as hell anyway) and he tells me he got out of jail for anything, I am leaving him alone. I would run. Especially with kids. i feel bad for julia.

Chicago Suntimes is reporting that several neighborhood residents were adamant that the SUV was not parked on the block during daylight hours on Sunday.
At least two noticed the SUV Sunday evening.
One neighbor said someone must have brought it early this morning or late last night.
Another said he got out of jail Tuesday (side eye) and has been on the block everyday since he got out.
He says the car was there last night, he saw it but thought nothing of it.
So the obvious question is, if thug life is in jail, how did the car get there late Sunday?

We can’t just jump to conclusions though. May Jennifer’s brother R.I.P. but we don’t know what kind of people her brother delt with. There have to have been more than 1 culprit because 1 man can’t drive 2 cars away from the scene.

10 was an exaggeration but there was 6 in the last year that I know of. Eddie Curry(NBA), Antoine Walker was robbed twice (NBA), Rashard Mendenhall (NFL), Rex Grosssman’s sister, Lil Wayne (even though it was reported as the promoter he stiffed), The Smashing Pumpkins and i’m sure there’s more.
But we can agree to disagree. Chicago has a lot to offer and there are a lot of celebrities that come and go without incident!

I am a Nelly stan. I went to his concert at HOB on Oct. 7th and we were standing around waiting for Valet for about a hour. All of the St. Lunatics (minus Nelly), Tyrus Thomas and Drew Gooden (both Bulls)were all out there without security and no on did anything, so I guess it just depends on who you are and wehere your at!
