@ckarin that is why i stopped going! i was always overdressed. went to this one club in charlotte and a heffa had on a TRACK SUIT. in the club. with matching nike’s. i was confused? on why she was out there looking like she came from the gym and also confused on if the owners were THAT hard up for warm bodies to let her in looking like that.

Thats why when AND IF I go out, its to a Final Friday and they enforce a strict dress code. The men can’t have on du-rags, Tims, white T’s or fitted baseball caps……I WISH there was a restriction on the ladies as well. Starting with their hair……………..
The last final Friday’s I went to, a broad was walking around in some all summer-long dirty red Old Navy flip flop-house shoes. I damn near walked out…..

You are right because I surely had on my real leather fake fur coat on saturday lol and a cleavage showing party dress. However, there was this chick in the place with a sweatshirt and some jeans on by the end of the night she was so drunk she didn’t have on socks or shoes so it happens in Cleveland also.
chicago does clean up well, however most of the tired a$$ hip hop/rap clubs looks a bit like the unflavored decatur chicks…
intense posed a good question about age/clubbing…it’s kind of hard to answer though, unless you focus exclusively on hip hop/rap clubs…i say that because we have stepper sets, house/deep house parties, hip hop parties (old school hip hop), etc…those parties typically bring out an older mature crowd

Why are they up on you and your crew?
Well you know what-now after reading all the posts I think that everyone touched on the exact point I was trying to make
People don’t dress like “grown folks” no more-jeans & sneaks are not the business for the club or any function that I would be interested in attending if it’s not a basketball game
I like going to happy hour with friends after work on a friday, or a classy event, such as a church function ball/fundraiser (you know there is one every year), a fraternity/sorority function such as an annual clam bake-you know they come out in their best.
When I go out I want to rub elbows with employed folks, people who actually get up and have to deal with the day to day stresses of being employed-people who have way to much to lose if they get into a fight, or the possibility of going to jail or even worst ending up in the hospital-LOL
I enjoy a mature crowd, well-dressed, people who actually dance, and people who understand that it’s just a dance and nothing more, and who aint to damn bourgeouis to dance, and if you make a mistake and bump into them or step on their toe an “excuse me” or an apology is met with a “don’t worry about it” response
Everybody is there to have a good time-not posted on the wall looking at everybody else while pretending to have a good time

I have to say that I agree with you. I tell my friends unless the place is 25 and older I will not go. I will be 29 in March and I think my girls finally convinced the dude at the 30 and over club to let me in lol. They were like he said he will let you in for your B’day.
I don’t even LIKE to go out (to clubs) anymore .. no one dances .. since I don’t drink thats the only reason I choose to go .. to dance… they have Old School Saturday’s here in Atl .. i would go to those .. no one dressed to impress .. and there was a WHOLE buncha decatur flava’s of love there .. no one dances .. just stands around .. so thats why I just stay home … folk don’t even “dress” for concerts .. i’m showin my age .. lol
My friends and I (the 30 and above crowd) chill at each other’s homes. (Get it, homes - not apartments) The last time I went to a club was when a friend rented one out for a birthday party.
The club scene is so old. And no, we don’t sit around playing cards all the time either.

I feel the SAME way! Folks who got time to go to the clubs, have been at home ALL day getting ready. I don’t mind being in bed by 10. LOL
we have a club here called “club 30+” and that is one of the ONLY places i say enforces the hail outta the dress code. another club over in durham don’t play either.
i can’t even do 25 and up no more. but i am LOL b/c i was like 23-24 trying my HARDEST to get into the 30 and over club. only time they let me in until i was really 30 i went with my momma (momma still brangs it…at dayum near 60) and with my sister who BEGGED on my behalf.

I can’t even front-if I am at home I can stay up late watching t.v. or pitter pattering around the house cleaning something
but if I am out past 11 and it aint church or some form of entertainment I enjoy I turn into a gremlin-LOL, like a toddler having a temper tantrum because they are hungry/tired/or just irritable-I’m usually home at 10 also.

my girlfriends and I had a “girls night in” everybody brought something to compliment the main dish-lasagna, marguerita mix, alcohol, chips, salad etc. and we sat around ate, talked, laughed, and just hung out-it was really nice and definitely more enjoyable than any club.
Home is the best place to be or someone elses home that you know…..
i cosign with intensemocha. we have what we call “daiquiri parties.”
everybody bring their blender and a diff. flavor and the alcohol to go in. and a cd. the host provides ice and food.
by the end of the night everybody is full and tipsy. once we had like 4-5 diff. flavors (we have duplications but that time we had a big variety). i think we all crashed at my sister house. like 8 of us! LMAO.

2 ideas for those who like to party with like-minded friends
1)Listening Party - where someone purchases the newest cds and we all listen, burn our own copies and have drinks. Last one I went too was Kym’s Kym II cd. By the end of the night - we had pulled out some old Will Downing, Anita Baker and Jill Scott.
2)ROUND THE WORLD PARTY (great for the holidays) - each host (no more than 4) chooses a country (or color). We travel to the first house, have hor’dervs (sp?) from the country (or color), then we all go to the second house together, have hor’dervs (sp?) from that host’s country (or color) , etc, etc. . . . until we’re at the last house. We don’t do anything without food and alcohol. For example, earlier this year, I chose the color green. I served apple martinis and spinach pizza. (it was green and better than brocoli)
