Taraji P. Henson Nominated for Best Supporting Actress Oscar

The Academy Awards nominations were announced this morning, and Taraji P. Henson was nominated for best supporting actress for her role in Benjamin Buttons!

We know Taraji is going to win but we shudder to think what she’s going to wear. We’ll just keep thinking happy thoughts and hope the Lord Blesses her with an Oscar and a good stylist for that night.

If anybody deserves that Oscar, it’s Taraji. She played her ass off as Brad Pitt’s mom. But she’s going up against some stiff competition including another sistah, Viola Davis (pictured left).

In the movie “Doubt”, Davis plays a woman who learns that her son may be the victim of sexual abuse by a priest at his school. I haven’t seen “Doubt” but I am familiar with her work and Davis is a great character actress.

The other nominees for Best Supporting Actress are: Amy Adams (Doubt), Penélope Cruz (Vicky Cristina Barcelona), and Oscar winner Marisa Tomei.

Taraji has a good chance of winning. With both Amy Adams (who is an acting machine, did you see her in Gone Baby Gone…she’s kick azz?) and Viola Davis getting nods for the same role in the same picture, their votes could be split and knock each of them out. That leaves Penelope and Marisa Tomei. Penelope is the weakest of all the nominees and Marisa has already won an Oscar before. That means Taraji could take it. I’ll be happy for either Taraji or Viola.

Yes good call but I think Ms Wallace has a bit of the LiL Kim’s same appearance denial because she’s been interviewed and said that she’s always wanted Angela Bassett to play her. I never got why AB played her, no attempt to get the accent or nothing. Viola would’ve killed it. I could just see her thowing the shoe like Voletta in the Juicy video.

Hello All! Kudos to these two talented black women but have you all seen Tropic Thunder? This movie may not be to everyone’s taste but damn, its the funniest, craziest movie I’ve seen in a long, long time. Robert Downey Jr is the bomb! If you haven’t seen it, rent the DVD or better yet, buy it. You’ll have to watch it several times because you’ll be laughing so much you’ll miss a lot of good lines. Like I said, it ain’t for all. Peace. (Wait til you see Tom Cruise, what a hoot!)

I am so happy for her….i’m friends with her sister April. We’ve been friends since middle school and April still lives in the same house out Clinton, MD. Taraji is so down to earth and funny as hell. You MUST watch it with the commentary. In the movie Robert Downes characters states that he stays in character until the commentary is done….WELL HE DIDN’T LIE LOL!!

Dude stays in character and then when he becomes “australian” in the movie he goes into that accent as well. Its only when the credits are rolling that the real Robert Downey speaks!!!
