A3K: ‘It’s Tough Being African American’

It wasn’t that long ago when we were laying Andre 3000′s clothing line to rest. But then he got a shovel and dug it back up again.

Last week Dre launched his wack clothing line over the border in Toronto, Canada. But the interesting part came when he was asked him why his sales were nonexistent. Apparently, Dre really does wish he was white:

From Page Six:

Someone at the party asked the musician about his biggest challenge moving into fashion. First, he said, being an African-American was a challenge, as there’s a perception out there that “hip-hop stars will just throw their names on anything.” Then he added, “I’m not a gay man.” Says Canadian columnist Shinan Govani: “Basically the OutKast star says his challenges included a) being black, and b) not being gay.”

Not Page Six again. And you are paraphrasing too. Ain’t no telling what he really said or if he said anything at all. Italy is talking about bailing out their fashion houses. Ain’t nobody got no money to be buying that overpriced garbage and the banks ain’t giving up the credit so folks can’t even charge it. I guess a handful of vain celebs aren’t enough to keep them running. He needs to lower his prices and he might have more success.

His line looks great but NIGGAS dont want to dress like MEN. They dressin the way they were taught. They like to look stupid. I feel bad for Andre really maybe if he add a BIG R and fake diamonds people will buy it. Or put his name all over the front of the shirts I dont know ANDRE get IGNORANT WITH THESE CONSUMERS!!!!!!!!!!

I love Andre 3000 I think he is a great rapper, he’s positive and I have never heard Ms. Badu utter one bad word on him. So I think its safe to say he’s a good father.

I don’t see where he said anything about wanting to be white.

You made a post last weeek on TI clothing line bigging it up. Andre most certainly deserves the same Respect.

Continue to do your thing Mr. Bugsby.

    Morning! Happy Friday everyone……

Looking at the pieces in the picture, Andre’s line doesn’t look that bad. Looks similar to some of the pieces in Ralph Lauren’s Purple Label. What demographic is he trying to target? If you are attempting to attract the average consumer, the prices MUST be reasonable. What is the price tag on this stuff anyway? And when is Andre gonna bless us with more music?
