I haven’t had my cup of espresso yet so I can’t muster up the energy to respond to Ne-Yo’s “advice” in this video. Even before I saw the singer I knew she would be dark skinned.

I want to go in hard on Neyo, but however there was some truth to what he was saying, ole girl can sing but she is overweight, if she wants to be an aspiring artist she really is going to have to loose weight seriously.
Thats the only way she will probably get a record deal unless she choose to sing gospel and I’m not even going there…

i too wanted to go hard on ne-yo… but i must say when i was a size 5/6 i had alot less health issues than NOW that i am 12. i am a life long asthmatic and my doc has pretty much said that my hard breathing overweight azz did this to myself. and that my symptoms may allievate themselves with weight loss. nothing else has changed. still same city, still same house (so no new allergens). the only thing that changed? my weight. it may be hard to hear but oh well. it may save or better a life.

Umm he’s not lying to this chick, she asked when you look at me what do you see, and he said I think you need to lose weight. And considering she’s trying to enter the entertainment industry where looks matter more than talent, that’s sound advice. Most consumers don’t want too see the Michelin man’s sister jumping around on stage performing, they want to see a svelte fantasy like women singing about fluff. If he was being mean spirited he would say fix your face too, because she’s not all that cute.

Neo has a lot of nerves. He is neither a dietician, nurse, nor doctor. Bastage.
Granted, some people who are or have been overweight may have had some health issues; but Neo was saying this for IMAGE purposes, not for health reasons. He has a lot of nerves, but I guess he’d know about a target market – considering he caught his target market off those tight Lil’ Richard Pennyman pants.
There are diferent audiences for different artists. She could very well gain a great following and make plenty money by just being a flat-footed singer. It depends on what her aspirations are.
Everyone does not have the desire to be entertained by some half naked broad doing contortion tricks across a stage while a pre-recorded track is playing. That ain’t music.

& as long as people keep believing that you have to look a certain way to sell records stero types like that will stay alive. When I buy a record its based off of the sound of the music not the look of the artist. Christte Michelle & Jazmine Sullivan aren’t skinny girls and they have great albums. I guess I’m in the minority here because I actually think he was keeping it 100 with her. He told different genres accept different types and if she wanted to go the pop way then she needed to shed a pounds because they don’t accept bigger girls but if she wanted to go more Neo they she would be fine because they go more off talent than looks.
