Chicago TV Anchors In Disbelief At Chicago’s Elimination

LOL @ the one anchor saying, “What? Did we hear that right?” Yeah, you heard that right!

I don’t know why the Chicago anchors were in disbelief. The decision was between ducking bullets in Chicago or sipping Daiquiris on the beach in Rio. I mean, that’s a no-brainer. I’m sure the Olympic Committee members watched the news this past week from Chicago. They know what’s going on.

I think Barack and Oprah needed this defeat to bring their egos back down to earth.

And again just in case you didn’t catch it…

“For years now, the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro has made just about every short list for the world’s most violent and dangerous cities. Plagued by violent gun crime, assassinations and drug-trafficking, nearly 50,000 people have died of crime-related violence in Rio between 1978 and 2000.

The city’s crime problem was put on display once again this year for the entire world to see during the annual Carnaval celebration in Rio. Despite the deployment of nearly 10,000 police officers, the festivities were still marred by unusally high instances of robbery, assault and violence.”

well don’t sip too much in rio cause they violent down there too! you might get kidnapped, kilt, messed up…nah skip the dranks and be on your “A game” down there if rio indeed gets the green light.

furthermore i don’t see nathan wrong with them trying to bring the games to chi. alot of what is going on there is gonna need more than coverage and debates to fix. it is gonna need money. more police power. more educational opportunities, etc. all of that requires money. so they were trying to generate a buck for that city. the cities get alot of money upfront to prep for the games. i know atl got alot of folks working during the time the city was preparing for the ’96 games.

    inform YOURSELF.

a frenchman organized the modern Olympics. since then a committee called the IOC does it.

In the late 19th century, Baron Pierre de Coubertin was inspired by Olympic festivals to revive the Games. For this purpose, he founded the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894, and two years later, the modern Olympic Games were established in Athens. The IOC has since become the governing body of the Olympic Movement, whose structure and actions are defined by the Olympic Charter.

dear ignorant sista, let me school you a little bit. in 1978 the city of los angeles was selected to host the 1984 olympics games( now for a little history to your clueless self, the cold war ran from the end of the second world war in 1945 till 1991 with the collapse of Berlin wall) i bet you dont even know what the “cold war“ was all about..smh@ the so-called college graduates..lol
now back to los angeles, the award of the games was the culmination of decades of efforts by the southern california committee for the olympic games( sccog). The los angeles was widely acclaimed as the most successful help up at the time…….once again inform yourself..ignorance is worse than AIDS

America (North South East or West America)….still does not decide WHERE the games are held. the city of LA coulda been working on it since the beginning of TIME and without the final say vote and approval of the IOC it would not have been. not to mention they won the bid by DEFAULT because it was the only city that submitted a bid.

p.s. the official collapse of the berlin wall was 1989 with the official demolition being in june 1990–not 1991.

As for the mean spirited tone the blog has taken in recent weeks/months, I must agree. I pretty much just skim it these days and don’t comment too much.
