Rihanna Speaks Out in Exclusive Interview
Pop singer Rihanna sat down for an exclusive interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer yesterday, 9 months after being beaten within an inch of her life by her ex-boyfriend, singer Chris Brown.
Brown is now a convicted felon on probation and ordered to do hard labor in his native Virginia.
Rihanna chose Sawyer over Oprah Winfrey for her first exclusive interview after the assault.
“He was definitely my first big love,” she told Sawyer. “…This happened to me…it can happen to anyone,” Rihanna said.
She also discussed her life growing up in Barbados and how she’s been doing over the last 9 months.
Rihanna will be honored at Glamour magazine’s annual Women of the Year event at Carnegie Hall in NYC on Monday, Nov. 9.
Rihanna’s interview airs on “Good Morning America” on Thursday, Nov. 5 and Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 a.m. ET, and on “20/20″ on Friday, Nov. 6 at 10 p.m. ET.

I don’t see Rhianna really speaking on the subject and what’s worst is if it wasn’t for that beatdown she wouldn’t even be getting this interview. She hasn’t been in the game long enough to warrant a sit down with Diane Swayer. this is her sophmore album… which can easily flop.
We’ll see. But I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Before the stans get at you, I think this is her 4th album. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. I agree that the hair is horrible but someone will say she’s a bad bish for rocking it. Go figure.
@iscream - you know i’m a PT Rihanna Stan, this is not her sophmore album, that was the Girl Like Me album in 06. The forthcoming album is her 4 album in 4 years. You know the girl can’t sing needs to milk it for all its got as quickly as possible, before folks realize it.

Okay I think this may be her 3rd studio album. She had the pon de album and the GGGB album. I think that’s right. I still don’t think she would be getting this interview without that whipping under her belt.

I don’t know which album this is, but I know it’s not her second. Pon de replay (if that is what it’s called) came out before Disturbia. And I’ll be the stan to go on record as saying I love the hair. This chick can do no wrong in the style game as far as I’m concerned. The more the mainstream hates it, the more I love it.
As for the interview, I can’t wait to check it out on 20/20. I really don’t expect her to throw Chris under the bus and if she instigated the incident in anyway I expect her to own up to that as well, but I’m glad it seems she knows it wasn’t right no matter her role. A lot of women go back because they blame themselves and that’s not the way to go either.

The hair is TERRIBLE. Not that we should care, but in CB’s interview no info was provided so I never understood his point of having an interview…Hopefully she will speak a little more. I don’t care what nobody says, I think she would take him back.
@iscream Her first was music of the sun with Pon the Replay… the 2nd came out a short while later, like 6 months or so, with SOS. 3rd was Good Girl gone Bad… I know I have cuts off all her albums on my running mix tapes, right amount of beats per min to keep me at 5- 6mph.

Rihanna: I am talking about starting with the night [before] the Grammys and then on. That was not the only thing that occurred this year. The picture leaking…it was one thing after another.
Glamour: You’re talking about the photo [reportedly of Rihanna’s injured face taken by police after Brown assaulted her] that was allegedly leaked by cops. You handled that so well; you kept silent in the press.
Rihanna: It was humiliating; that is not a photo you would show to anybody. I felt completely taken advantage of. I felt like people were making it into a fun topic on the Internet, and it’s my life. I was disappointed, especially when I found out the photo was [supposedly leaked by] two women.
Glamour: How has this event changed you as a person, as a woman?
Rihanna: I’m stronger, wiser and more aware. You don’t realize how much your decisions affect people you don’t even know, like fans.
Glamour: Do you feel that this experience has laid the groundwork for coping with anything so public again?
Rihanna: It has taught me so much. I felt like I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears. That was the level of media chaos that happened the next day. It was like, What, there are helicopters circling my house? There are 100 people in my cul-de-sac? What do you mean, I can’t go back home?
Glamour: If you could offer a message to the millions of young women who look up to you, what would you tell someone who found herself in a similar situation?
Rihanna: Domestic violence is a big secret. No kid goes around and lets people know their parents fight. Teenage girls can’t tell their parents that their boyfriend beat them up. You don’t dare let your neighbor know that you fight. It’s one of the things we [women] will hide, because it’s embarrassing. My story was broadcast all over the world for people to see, and they have followed every step of my recovery. The positive thing that has come out of my situation is that people can learn from that. I want to give as much insight as I can to young women, because I feel like I represent a voice that really isn’t heard. Now I can help speak for those women.

IMO, Tweet is another artist who is slept on by the industry. The girl is really talented. Her first CD, Southern Hummingbird, is the bomb! “Always Will”, “Beautiful”, “Smoking Cigarettes”, “Motel”…too many favorites to list. Definitely a solid effort.
Now, the 2nd CD? Couple of tracks were decent. “You” and “Cab Ride” were my favorites. Could be better, I just get tired of hearing Missy hollering over the track like she’s Puffy or some ish.
Who this chick better be talking to is her stylist..EVERY DAY! Thanking her lucky stars she found her. I was watching Bring It On this weekend (I was sick, so give me a break)..don’t know which one, but it starred the skinny “other Knowles” and the chick from Heroes..Anywho, I almost rolled off my bed when I saw Ms. Robyn. BA-BY, that thang was a plain-jane looking mess! IMO, she owes Jigga, the Dream, and that magician of a stylist of hers for ANY success. We now know how low Rihanna will go to sale..
