Rihanna is so strong and so insightful in this interview with GMA’s Diane Sawyer. I have a newfound respect for Rihanna because we heard these rumors that she was sneaking and seeing Chris Brown. So it’s good that she came out and cleared the air on that one. She obviously hates him so much right now. But she’s taking the high road. Good for her!

Oh RiRi - I have so many mixed feelings about her timing, some of the words she chose. I can only hope she is speaking from a real place because the topic in itself is important…sad that a check is attached to get them both to tell their stories ( I would think)

Here’s some of the interview.
“He was definitely my first big love. We were best friends. We fell in love with each other. To fall in love with your best friend can be scary. We just fell fast. The more in love we became, the more dangerous we became for each other. Equally as dangerous because it was a bit of an obsession….almost.”
I caught him in a lie and he wouldn’t tell the truth. I wouldn’t drop it. I couldn’t take that he was lying to me and he couldn’t take that I wouldn’t drop it because obviously his back was up against the wall. The truth was right here in a text message. So, it escalated into him being violent against me and it was ugly.
Diane: How did you think it was going to end?
That’s all I kept thinking the whole time was “when is it going to stop, when is it going to stop”. He had no sole in his eyes. Just blank. He was clearly blacked out. There was no person when I looked at him. I was battered. I was bleeding, I was swollen in my face. There was no way of me getting home. My next option was for me to get out of the car and start walking and I got out with a bloody face. So I really don’t know what was my plan. I really didn’t have a plan. That whole night was not a part of my plan.

He was my best friend. We were in love, it takes time. Love doesn’t go right away. He didn’t accept that very well. Obviously he didn’t want us to be apart but I had to make a decision that was right for me.
Diane: Do you hate him?
No, I don’t hate him at all. I actually love and care about him and I am concerned about him doing well. I want him to do well, have a great career, have a great life and grow up…and take this as something you had to go through to grow up and learn.

yes, the timing is awful and the check attached to it is equally as awful — we all speak from our own experience - and after being lied to one too many times, I wouldnt let go either - so I could see that part happened and a shove in anger but it doesnt warrant the beatdown. You can’t avoid “provoking” a DV situation when you are in a relationship with a man that is capable of doing what Chris did to Rihanna. That is what many victims never get. They can’t stop that man. Anywho, I’m looking forward to seeing both of their interviews tonight. I have intentionlly not watched any of these Diane Sawyer clips. I want to hear it all. For anyone who does want an excerpt, you can check out Perez. I read a lot of what she said there, but again the snippets are not for me.
What is most amazing to me is that people actually act like it is impossible for Chris to be an abuser. Is it because he’s cute? A star? What? I just don’t get the total disbelief. She HAD to have asked for it because it was him. Why?

I’ve seen that blank look. It is the look that makes you think the man could kill you. He’s looking at through you like he doesn’t care about your life as he hits, chokes, beats you. @ Bird - I don’t condone what Chris did in any way form or fashion, but this particular incident has always seemed to have more to it; I think it started with the rumors that she hit him with a shoe or something.
So until Rhianna can clarify that, the question is still out there. It’s no more right for her to hit him than it is for him to hit her. He’s going to have a felony regardless, but the whole story needs to be told.
I agree that there are some situations where the victim doesn’t have a chance to avoid provoking a situation, but this wasn’t the first time they’d battled it out (so I’ve heard) and if that is the truth then Rhianna may have had some insight to avoid escalating the situation and to get the hell away from Chris, especially if she saw evidence of his lying…what more do you need if you already know he has violent tendencies and is now lying/cheating??
Love IS blind, and I’m not judging her, just saying that I feel the whole thing could have possibly been avoided.

I haven’t watched the clip yet but after reading the transcript I can see it from her P.O.V too. I will say that if someone is being slapped it is natural to hit back if you are that type of MAN. However, bitting, punching, chocking, and slamming heads is more than over kill.
The point where she talks about saying a blank look in his eyes is what hit home. I too have seen that look and you know you have to get the hell out of dodge because that person is capable of killing.

As a former victim of “DV” it hurt my soul a little every time one of me SR sisters said she had to have asked for it like there are not men out there that beat women for sport. I didn’t care if I read anywhere else, but here it was personal for some reason. I really had to step back from it.

Ugh I know I said I wouldn’t comment BUT I have to say that telling a victim of any kind of abuse when it is okay to tell their story to me is not OKAY.
There are people who are abused that never tell their story because the shear pain of it brings out memories that they never want to deal with again. Some people even make believe that the abuse never happened because if they admit it to themselves it will consume them and make them snap. If her story whether *false* or not makes someone speak up about their abuse whether it was done today, yesterday or tomorrow, then I applaud and support…
With that being said I hope that they both get the help they BOTH need…

Maybe Rhianna also had a lot of people in her ear telling her not to speak. I’m not for people putting their hands on anyone. But I have never saw Chris walking around with bruies, never heard of him calling the Police on her, never heard of him getting some chicks to bust her up. So rumors of her doing this, this, and that just doesn’t add up until HE admits it.
Women are emotional and young women aren’t eqiup to handle those emotions. If she found a text message that proved something that hurt her heart. I can see where she may have gone off the deep end. SINCE HE DID WRONG TO CAUSE THAT EMOTION TO BE STIRRED UP he should’ve controlled himself.

Michael Baisden did a show sometime this week asking why women hate each other. I was thinking, “I don’t hate women and I have plenty of women friends,” but the fact is I’ve seen what he’s talking about. Hell when I lived in Jerz if I had a party I had to pick and chose who I could invite because people I was friends with were not friends with each other for the most stupid reasons. I don’t know what’s up with it. Glad I don’t have the problem. I love everyone.
I don’t know if Rihanna beat the boy, but I do know we have not seen any “abuse pics” of him. And I’m still holding out hope that she will be forthcoming in the interview which is why I don’t like those snippets. I want to hear all of it. I won’t think of her as any less of a victim if she has anger issues of her own sort out. She’ll just be another person that needs to get a grip and learn right from wrong in this regard.
Unlike some, I don’t wish poverty and death on Chris Brown. I am praying he will get help, because even if Rihanna slapped the hell out of him for cheating his reaction is a problem. After his little YouTube thing I was missing them as a couple again. Now I’m really glad they broke up and are moving on and I hope Chris’ heart can mend because it’s clear he’s still in pain.

I was in a toxic and abusive relationship during my 20’s, and it took for the brother to go to jail for me not to have to look over my shoulders, so I have been there. It was pure hell, and I did everything to get away short of murder. It is from experience that I even know that some situations are provoked, and some aren’t.
I didn’t know how to “let things go” either, but I found out how the first time it turned violent. I didn’t walk away because it was one incident, and I played a part in it (young thinking), but then came the times when I didn’t provoke it. I understand the difference between the two, believe me, and the difference doesn’t ever make the offender right, it only places accountability where it is justly supposed to be.
I still have a couple of scars…arm..leg, and they will be there for life.
I hate to hear that any woman has to go through this, but the decisions we make are life changing and long lasting. I do wish Rhianna the best. But my mama always told me about fighting anybody…”you got to bring azz to get azz”.

Whittney Houston (though may have been deservingly) didn’t even give that to Bobby Brown when she told their story on Oprah.
Please understand I am not justifying or making light of her being battered. “No Soul”… “No Person”,… “when is it going to stop”,… “he had clearly blacked out”…are indications that dispite her not dropping it…this was not something she expected to happen and absolutely shouldn’t have happened for any reason.

E its not that its one sided men are the stronger sex so they usually win in physical altercations which keeps a lot of women from getting violent.

Childrens first and most dominate role models should be their parents and family members.Upclose and personal examples. Indiviuals they can touch and see in THEIR day to day life. Not the person or persons they see in movies, tv, videos, or in 7 mininute interviews.
