House speaker Nancy Pelosi (who I think has a touch of Alzheimer’s) confirmed this legislation again today during a press conference.
Shomari Stone, KOMO reporter: “Do you think it’s fair to send people to jail for not buying health insurance?”
Pelosi: … I think the legislation is very fair in this respect.
Pelosi also mumbled something about people getting sick and sending the bill to the taxpayer. Does that happen now?
Pelosi made it clear that even though it’s unconstitutional to force Americans to buy anything, the Obama administration is going to try and do it anyway. Only the illegal immigrants, elderly and chronically unemployed (homeless) are exempt from this rule.
The feds better start building new prisons!

To answer your earlier question (in another post) Bird, I worked as a home health nurse for 6 years. I wasn’t referring to billing when I said as a RN I had to deal with government red tape. I was talking about getting Medicare to approve a basic treatment or medicine for my elderly patients.
She didn’t answer the ? and that is why I hate politics. It’s a bunch of bs. BTW, SHOMARI STONE used to work for a local news station in Miami. I wondered what happened to him. Anyway, this is all very scary but envitable. We shall all be consumed by the beast aka new world order very soon. It’s very real folks.

Umm many people are chronically unemployed right now, have you checked the jobless claims in your state Sandra? If you don’t buy health insurance (which is supposed to be more affordable now under this bill) you first will face fines, I doubt they will throw anyone in jail over this.
Affordable health care is a great thing. If health care costs weren’t so prohibitive now, more people would get all the preventive healthcare they need & not wait until it’s something major and get rushed to an emergency room.
also with all the modifications (Republicans alone had input, I believe they passed 27 amendments on that round alone) so this plan as it is, is hardly Obama Care…

I support our President on a lot of things but I admit I really haven’t been focused on healthcare as much because I have healthcare. I know it’s wrong but I’m being real. Glory to God that I am able to afford it now. But who know’s what the future holds. It’s unfair and UNAMERICAN to make anyone pay fines and/or go to jail for NOT HAVING HEALTHCARE INSURANCE. This bill is a bunch of bull!!! Sorry to say that I’ll probably be going to jail or getting my income tax taken for the first time in my life. The bill was 1990 pages that no one read and they eeked it through on a Saturday night. It’s my prayer that the senate kills this crap and/or makes drastic changes as predicted.

The information is available on the Internet for you to read. Private industry can not compete with the government and you know it. Just the fact that they sneaked that bill through in the dead of night on a Saturday tells you what kind of people we’re dealing with. This is nothing more than an attempt to takeover health care and once that happens they will put insurance companies out of business so we have no choice but to use their plan.

Then he made a deal with the pharmaceutical companies and went to bat for a House bill that will drive overall costs up, drive premiums up, put the government in charge of deciding whose insurance is acceptable, put the government in charge of who gets treated for what and by whom and destroy not only the private insurance market but also the very concept of insurance. I’ve known about this for awhile now but I can’t convince my hard headed hubby what the plan is about. He thinks it’s not going to affect us because we have private Insurance. Even if this may not affect us what about his retired parents or our kids/grandkids. This will affect all of us. I am tried of our goverment trying to be slick. Saturday when I found out this bill had passed and later learned all the amendments they slipped through the cracks I was appauled. What happened to those important words while our President was running for office “Affordable Health Care?

I this passes we can all say goodbye to elective medical procedures and we better watch ourselves bc if we are 20lbs overweight or have a pre-existing condition that could have been avoided if you taken better care of yourself (diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure), then your screwed bc you will be the first one to get denied services.

It IS going to affect you if you have private insurance. The government will take over healthcare and become a monopoly that will drive the private insurance companies out of business so the gov. can make all the money. That’s what this is all about. The Dems want all the control. Then they will treat you the same way they treat Medicare/Medicaid patients. They will deny basic treatment because it’s too costly. Your standard of care will go from good to poor. Your teeth will be rotten just like the British because the dentists will go out of business if there are no insurance companies to pay them. Dentists are not included in ObamaCare.

you can take excellent care of yourself and still be diagnosed with Diabetes and heart disease. I’ve treated very fit athletes who are diagnosed with those diseases. The healthiest people on the planet can still get Diabetes and have heart attacks. Most of these diseases are hereditary (runs in your family). But you’re right, you WILL be penalized by the government if you are diagnosed with those diseases. Even though it runs in your family, the government will say you could have prevented it. They are already setting us up for that excuse to deny us benefits. If the government can’t run Medicare for the elderly how will they run Medicare for 300 million people?

I don’t agree with that policy either, I don’t think people should be forced to buy anything in a free country. Also whats annoys the crap out of me when people keep saying “Not on my tax dollar”. You don’t own that tax dollar, they spend that money however they want, regardless how you feel about it, once it out of your check, paid or garnished. It belongs to the government. So stop saying that.
There are other options then mandating the insurance for one regulate insurance companies, just like they do Georgia Power or any other monopolized company. Also if they would just revamp the welfare system. How many of us know people on welfare get food stamps, only to sell them for 50%, or if you are on welfare you shouldn’t be allowed to have any kids. People say that you can’t tell people what they need to do, Well I think they can when they want FREE Sh!t.
So there are a bunch of alternatives then to force people to buy insurance. Health care in Europe is not free, they pay more taxes over there plus they complain that their wait times are anywhere from 4 weeks - 6 months. WTF? Japan has a good healthcare system but it would never work in the US because of the type of people we are. Alot of things wouldn’t work for us because of our culture, so we can’t look at other countries.
I like what Obama stood for in his campaign, but that doesn’t mean I will agree with everything he does and I think that is a problem with us black people we will take anything Obama says as gold because he is black. He is good point of views and he has bad ones. That is a bad one. Of course the lawmakers ain’t worrying about it because they already get the best healthcare there is!

You are required to buy car insurance if you have a car. BIG difference! You can’t be forced to buy car insurance if you don’t have a car. Car insurance is to protect others or their property if you hit them with your vehicle which is considered a dangerous weapon in the hands of the wrong people. No they won’t. The insurance you will be forced to buy will be government-run insurance. The private insurers will be run out of business by the government who will take over health care and charge whatever they want since they have no competition from the private sector.

I see it EVERYDAY!! People come in for a procedure such as an MRI or CT(for a very serious reason most of the time) and get denied because it’s not deemed medically fit for that pt! I am scared for us!

Just the other day an elderly man came in and needed a C.T
his provider ordered it and he has medicare well there is a protocol that medicare has where the procedure has to be coded and based on what is put in IF it does not pass then medicare DOES NOT PAY FOR IT! That procedure alone was 4 grand! The patient has to sign a waiver stating that they WILL be responsible for the bill! UMMMMMMMMMMMM HELLLLLO the last time I checked Alot of elderly people are on fixed income’s and CANNOT afford a 4 thousand dollar procedure out of pocket!! He did not end up having the procedure in fear of getting that bill! He was there to see if has cancer! SMH…….that is serious enough to me to need that procedure! GOV + Healthcare = DISASTER

Obama and the Dems have no clue what health care is all about yet they want to run it. Obama says a CT scan is wasteful as are all the other tests we order to monitor patient’s response to certain medications. Some of these blood tests must be ordered several times a day to monitor certain drug levels in a patient’s blood stream. But as far as Obama is concerned, the tests are all wasteful. Good luck with ObamaCare! I’m a nurse so I can take care of myself and mine.

This has been effect in Cali since 1997 as apart of Clinton’s welfare reform. If you’ve been receiving cash (food stamps & medical don’t count) for 10 mths and have another child, the new child won’t receive cash…HOWEVER there are SEVERAL loop holes to get around this rule….but if you (the average recipient) don’t read, you’d never know it.

im a little late on this topic, but i am very pissed about my new insurance rates where i work, mind you,i work in a hospital and i am single…with that being said for my High Plan it will cost me $79.00 per pay compared to last year same plan 54.00 the medical part of my health insurance went up by $21.81 everything else pretty much stayed the same,,so im wondering whats to be said about that?
