I agree with the music critics who have widely panned Rihanna's latest studio effort. It pains me to have to say this but, Rihanna's new CD, Rated R, sucks. For some reason, Rihanna decided to go in an entirely different direction with this project. Bad idea. "I'm nothing without you"? Is she serious?

She comes off as someone desperate to be taken seriously as a rock musician or something. If you're looking for confirmation of her walk on the dark side (Illuminati) it's all there in the lyrics. The backing tracks are some of the most horrible I've ever heard. Does anyone know what good music sounds like anymore?

You can listen to 30 second snippets of the entire album here. Rated R drops on November 20.

Is there still time for Rihanna's handlers to shelve this mess and go back to the drawing board? I blame Jay Z's massive, over sized ego for giving the green light to this garbage.

Sorry Ri Ri, but you are not a rock star, hon.

  • licia

i agree her album sucks , but she has fans who will buy it . it will undoubtedly sell .

  • browni007

She should have taken rest and not rushed to put an album out so soon...

  • missy

A lot of stuff coming out on Nov.20 Precious,Twilight,The Blind Side(the bio pic of an NFL player) so much to choose from but I know I won't be Buying her or any one's album.

I concur with what Sandra said about the album cover.

  • wiggy2272003

I blame Taylor Swift for letting Kanye bumrush her award speech

  • Divinebrown

Precious is being released nationwide November 20th.

Rihanna's cd's SUCK BALLS. Long, flappy, hairy ones...

  • melinla

Damn DB why don't you tell us how you REALLY feel

    the debil is a flop

  • KaraZ

I knew Rihanna had fallen from (Sandra's) grace the day I read that Sandra took that girl with the flying eyebrows to the Melanie Fiona gig...

  • Kat

I don't own one Rihanna cd anyway....so I won't be missing out on anything with not owning this one either. She will sell tho.

  • http://oneperfectassistant.com ggouch

@melinla...I'm having outbursts today. I apologize.

@wiggy...I love that lil precious baby in your avatar.

You just wanted to tell us you were eating banana pudding. Stingy self. Lemme hold a vanilla wafer with a lil but of whipped cream.

@KWALLZ....REMEMBER THAT PICTURE OF THE XRAY MACHINES THAT SANDRA POSTED AWHILE BACK....OF THE SECURITY GUARD WITH THE DROOPY NARDS? Kym had me on the flo' that day.

  • luvly1957

I knew it was going to b ish she has no talent besides being a model, stop trying to sing and just do wat u do best and walk da streets wit some hot clothes on period....

  • KaraZ

Just listened, Rihanna failed with this one. I mean I was willing to download a song here & there because they're pretty good dance tracks with good tempos... the closest is the Rude Boy track *blank stare* Chris apparently beat the sense out of her & her entire team. This is some BS, I can't Limewire any of this!

  • http://twitter.com/sherita78 mizzdallas

    @karaz

u betta leave limewire alone before it beat the shyt your pockets n infest your azz with awful virus! :lolol:

  • http://createspace.com/3393054 iscream

How is this Jay Z fault? How can he greenlight a CD that's not apart of his RocNation? Did Rhianna switch teams. I hope not. There is no way he is going to let her be greater than the Mrs. :nono:

  • KaraZ

@mizzD... what am I suspposed to do pay for crap albums? I don't think so. I keep my anti-virus up to date anyways, i'll be damned if I contribute financially to fcukery.

(Hypothetically speaking FBI, I do not really download music from the internet ;) )

  • Daisy

I like Hard feat Jeezy and Russian Roulette! I don't own a RiRi cd but I have always liked her music! Her fans/stans will support her and she will be just fine! Perez has been dogging her out lately as well but what else is new

  • heavn_sent

    Wiggy,

Are you eating REAL homemade banana pudding? Not box pudding with cookies and bananas..but with the custard made from scratch?? I'm originally from Alabama and people here in DC DO NOT MAKE REAL banana pudding.

  • wiggy2272003

DB I aint sting I'll share got a whole pan my tfriend/coworkers mother made and brougt. We all know errybody can't make it but she CAN. This girl in the next office(on the healthier side) said oooh this made my knees go weak) I aint never heard that in relation to food.

Thanks thats my youngest she actually took that picture of herself.

  • wiggy2272003

Heavnsent no girl see I was just typing the same thought(red velvet is another one a lot of people can't make) as you. My friends mother who is in her late sixties made it and she makes NOTHING from a box. She makes the pudding for me and her other specialty is fried corn. She just throws down period.

  • heavn_sent

Now that's what Im talkin bout!!!! I kills 'em when I make the pudding, but it takes too long, so I only do it once a year or so.

  • Daisy

Mama can't bake so she mastered banana pudding and I do NOT eat it! Ppl pay her to make them. All my aunts can bake and 2 of them make a MEAN red velvet cake!!! My FAV! I will be eating some on turkey day! :cheer:

  • KaraZ

I've never had banana pudding, from scratch or otherwise. What does it taste like? How do you make it?

Rihanna your album truly sucks, you got people more interested in banana pudding than your material.. I hope you get to make a 5th studio album, because frankly speaking you don't have enouhg material for a greatest hits.

  • licia

Karaz it's nasty IMO. everything my mom makes from scratch i don't eat . peach cobbler is the worst . makes me gag. lol

  • heavn_sent

Please somebody tell me licia didn't say "peach cobbler is the worst".. Have you gone mad???

  • wiggy2272003

Daisy Red Velvet is my fav too. I am dead serious Kroger redvelvet is not bad.
I know its mad old fashioned but I love me some homemade carrot cake too. And hummingbird.

  • licia

i'm sorry heaven. i have never liked it . that makes my people question whether i am even a part of the family . lol

  • heavn_sent

I don't eat turkey..BUT I love, love, loves me some turkey, grits, and gravy on Black Friday (AFTER the shopping ofcourse).

  • Daisy

I don't eat peach cobbler either YUCK! I only eat blackberry and apple pie!

Wiggy I think sams/wal mart red velvet is better than Kroger. I heard the red velvet at CA pizza kitchen is good as well.

    I love fried turkey!

I eat everything in banana pudding just NOT all together YUCK

  • dcwife1622

I'm not surprised.....I agree she should just model

  • http://createspace.com/3393054 iscream

Red velvet cup cakes with cream cheese frosting is mmmm mmmm good.

  • licia

dcwife u got me breathing funny with that pic of nelly. lol

  • kdillon

I love Rihanna Lord knows I do, but I cant get with these songs. Im not sure how im feeling :(

  • Mspeng

Question to all Americans who can answer. I'm a Jamaican...in Toronto Canada since childhood. Now there are some things I hear about on tv and I just have no idea what they are. And I love food so I just wanted to know what in the heeezy some things are...here's my list.

Grits? Cant even imagine what they are
Peach Cobbler? Is that like a pie?
    Gumbo? See Grits
    Chitlins????
    Red Velvet Cake?
Collard Greens? Is it like spinach?

I have more but can't remember now but any descriptions would be so helpful. I might just come downsouth to try some if they sound good. Thanks

  • Mspeng

Oh sorry...ON topic. I heard Rihanna's cd sounds very dark and depressing. It looks like Chris Brown put her in a different state in life.

  • lovejoy1

I blame the person who said she can sing...Lets keep it real the girl is only good for taking pics- no talent.. Oh and i blame beyonce for being so fierce that riri and the rest of em cant come up and match her.. i blame the YT folks for helping us get a black president.. I blame my mother for buying me my first album- freddy jackson and whitney houston.. I blame CB for not knocking that head hard enough because this shit sucks. i blame my daughter for not waking me up on time this morning.. i blame my husband for getting me pregnant for the second time...lmaooo
    try again...

    no sir just bugging

  • KaraZ

Grits... made from corn, hominy is a good substitution. Can be made savory or sweet, eaten for any meal too... I used to hate them till I had Flying Biscuits creamy dreamy grits@ good lord Jesus, whole milk cream makes anything good though.
Never had peach cobbler, but it think it's a crumble/pie hybrid
Gumbo is a mish mash soup wit okra and seafood mostly. I prefer west african okra soup though.
    Chitlins.. have no clue.
Red velvet cake it a buttermilk cake with cocoa flavoring and bright red coloring...best with cream chees frosting, the best i've ever had was from piece of cake... i meand it's just amazing.
Collard greens are not like spinach they're much tougher & have a bit of a bitter edge to them, think Kale or turnip greens.

I need to go pray & ask God for strength to avoid cake until thanksgiving.

  • missy

    @Mspeng

Chitlins-is the pig intestines (i've never ate that or want to eat it)

  • Cinnamon Kisses

MsPeng........You have no idea what your missing!
    Greens are sooooo good
    Peach Cobbler is as well!
Gumbo is too.....BUT it depends on who's making it
Chitlins........NO THANK YA! They smell HORRIBLE when cooking them and I'm all the way good on how they taste!
    Grits...eh!
    Red Velet Cake.......YES SIRRRRR!

  • trynabeme

I know I'm late but yeah RHIANNA, try again & again & again....I might like STUPID IN LOVE (yeah I know that's messy :lolol:)

As for the FOOD: LOVES B. Pudding & R. Velet Cake (had the cake on my 1st trip to the ATL)!

MSPeng, po' you! GUMBO is a delicacy you MUST get in your life befo' you die! (Unless you're alergic to seafood :shrugs:) BTW, it ain't REAL GUMBO if it's made w/o seafood....that's called soup!

But you ain't missin' NUTHIN' w/ the peach cobbler (come at me PC LOVERS....I'm waiting...I get it ALLLLLLLLLLL the time, :-)) I don't like ANY COOKED FRUIT.......illllllllllllllllllllllllllll! :puke:

I just learned to like grits....this year! And to set a good example for my daughter (cause I'm not much of a veggie eater) I've learned to LOVE greens. Chitlin's....Ima keep it 100 & say I used to LOVE them....(my mama's from the south)....but after many years of her cleanin'/cookin' 'em she said, "If you want them, you'll have to clean them." (I was about 12yrs old).....and that was alllllllllllllllllllllll she wrote. Haven't been much of a fan since.

  • trynabeme

    Y my smiley's didn't show up????

  • Mspeng

Thanks guys...according to KaraZ's description of grits, I'm sure Jamaican hominy corn porridge is similar. Pig intestine! Ummm...I might pass on that but I eat many other interesting animal parts so maybe it could be good. That peach cobbler sounds great though. And that red velvet cake. I'm a sucker for baked goods.

  • Cinnamon Kisses

trynabeme........UGGHHHHHH Chitlins....... :noob: she cant do it! I had some once and whoever cleaned them DID NOT clean them good.......needless to say i :hurl:

  • dcwife1622

    @38... :smile:

I love Nelly. I just bought a Red Velvet cupcake from Sugar Bliss bakery in downtown Chicago...yummy

  • trynabeme

    @ Cinnamon...LOL

That is most ppls reaction. It has been over 15 yrs since my last taste (& HELLS NO you cain't eat just ANYBODY's) but I did usta LOVE 'em. LOL I always knew what they were. I guess after having to clean 'em myself I just couldn't do it anymore! LOL

  • licia

aww dang i missed the grits, gumbo discussion. i will pass on the greens, cabbage and the CHITlins. blahhhh

  • licia

  • Silhouette

I am one of those who will never tast REAL gumbo do to the seafood allergies.
    @MsPeng
you are going have to take a trip down south all those things can be found at someones grandmas house every Sunday.

I love every food you guys mentioned except chitlins. Hey they might be good but I just can't get passed the smell or what they are. :hurl:

  • trynabeme

@ licia.....nah I never had hog maws....I think it was the name that threw me (I know, not the former chitlin devour'er)! And caggage....I could never get with that either :puke:

Just about everbody I knows eats cabbage tho and as I said I'm not much of a veggie eater so I am trying to incorporate more veggie dishes. I want to make some eggplant parmesan. I need to invest in a utensil that can cut that eggplant up for me into strips....yeah I'm lazy.

  • licia

nope no cabbage . i don't like vegetables period.

  • Mspeng

You guys shouldnt feel bad about eating gross animal parts. lol. Us Jamaican people eat liver, kidney (beef), cow foot, tripe and beans, pig tail (in stew peas and red peas soup), chicken foot soup atc. So some intestines don't sound all that scary because all the above is yummy to me :)

  • Cinnamon Kisses

Dang yall........NOW I CANT WAIT FOR THANKSGIVING!!
    I'm gon throwdown :danban:

  • trynabeme

    licia Says:

That was me prior to having my daughter! At 1st she was eatin' them on her own....but as the years went by, I like, "Aiiiiiiiiiiight, like me set the dayum example!" I can STILL fill this post with what I WON'T eat...startin' w/ TOMATO'S! (I want to like 'em, but NOT!) Just like cooked fruit, I don't like mushy veggies!

  • Mspeng

Oh and Licia I'm with you...I hate veggies. Always have. Always will. I only TRY to eat some when I'm pregnant but other than that, if its green, I have no interest

  • masonmom

i just had some jamaican food yesterday! Mango's on Georgia Ave!! MMmmmmMMMmmm **licking lips** love spicy food! ox tails...wooo shut yo dmn mouth!

  • Cinnamon Kisses

    @trynabeme.......My kids LOVE veggies.

  • licia

mspeng i went o jamaica in june and i was scared to eat . if i can't distinguish what it is by sight i won't eat it . the jerk chicken was great though.

  • Cinnamon Kisses

OHHHHHH Masonmom..........YESSSSSSSSS Ox tails are the bidness!!!!

  • wiggy2272003

Daisy I will try if I am ever in Walmart which I doubt cause I oppose the corp morally and I have a personal aversion to hour long checkout lines.
I also think a real red velvet cake is a little different than chocolate. Like Kara said its make with buttermilk instead of regular milk. But really who cares its the shit.
I like all the food mentioned least maybe the cobbler. I also don't like cooked fruits. If I do eat pie or cobbler I like it cold.
Kara what are these Dream grit your're talking about? (you may not have said that I'm too lzy to scroll back up)
Licia, try all the vegetables now. I've found that as I get older the more I love them and actually the less I like meat. I don't do sausage anymore or hotdogs. I can only tolerate minimal hamburger etc. I could eat a veggie plate with a yeast roll or cornbread or a biscuit and not miss chit.

  • masonmom

licia girrrrl u dnt know what u missin! the ox tails are like satin on ur tongue!

  • licia

wiggy i have tried to eat veggies and it's a no go . the only thing i can eat is carrots , but they have to be raw.

  • licia

    i love oxtails !!!

  • Mspeng

That's funny because I'm cooking oxtail for dinner right now you guys :)...its not very hard to do. Without a pressure cooker it can be time consuming though

  • Divinebrown

    MANNNNN....

I will show out over a plate of oxtails.

    WHOEVER EATS CHITLINS GOT WORMS!!!!

I had some banana pudding last night. WHEWWWWWW!! IT WAS LIKE TAKIN A BENADRYL. SOUL FOOD IS THE CURE TO INSOMNIA. IM CONVINCED OF IT. You might have hypertension, edema and massive weight gain if you eat it everyday. lol But it will shol help u sleep.

  • Cinnamon Kisses

@MsPeng........awww man ox tails sound great right about now!!!

  • Shauny

I guess I'm in the minority on the chitterlings because I BANGS them on Thanksgiving and Christmas. I can't wait! Honey baked ham, turkey wings (don't like whole turkey), greens (mustard and turnip w/spinach), dressing from scratch, macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, apple pie, RED VELVET CAKE and PEACH COBBLER!! What else can I throw in there?

I LOVE grits but just with salt and butter. I can't get with the cheese in my grits.

I don't want gumbo or jumbalaya until I go to NO. Hopefully I'll get there sometime next year.

  • licia

shauny i'm coming to get some ham and mac & cheese. what time is dinner? lol

  • Cinnamon Kisses

Shauny......How bout some cornbread thrown up in there!
I forgot about mac and cheese!!
Black eyed peas?? <<--------- Loves Black eyed peas!!!
My sis inlaw husband is from the N.O and she learned how to make gumbo and red beans and rice and all the GREAT N.O dishes!! I  her! lol

  • trynabeme

  • Shauny

@DB well my ass got worms with a whole lotta others in the Chi because it's hard to find those boys if you wait too late.

I've never had black eye peas or red beans and rice for Thanksgiving....My mom makes them every New Years but I don't care for the taste. LOVES me some red beans and rice though.

I don't do cornbread for the holidays, we usually do hawaiian roll, those garlic butter cresent rolls, or regular sweet rolls.

@wiggy - girll I've never heard of any one of those casseroles. I don't like pecan pie (looks like cockroaches to me) or potato salad BUT that caramel cake sounds good. May have someone do me one for Christmas because I'm not cooking this Christmas.

I have to try the coffee creamer in the oatmeal. Good idea

  • licia

shauny u have never heard of broccoli / cheese casserole or broccoli cheese and rice? i don't eat it , but i know about it because my mom makes it all the time. my sisters fight over the stuff lol

  • Cinnamon Kisses

Broccoli + Cheese + rice = BOMB!! I can eat just about everyday!

  • trynabeme

Cinnamon 4true on the creamer. My ma put me on cause she'd have a FIT when she saw how much suger I'd put in there. my daughter does it too. :yea:

  • trynabeme

I remember the pecan pie from when I was little...most nuts break me out tho. So I really only mess with almonds & love them to DEF!

Nobody mentioned brussell sprouts. I've always heard they were nasty, but again, I'm tryna set a good example. I saw a recipe on some show: boil the B. sprouts in chicken broth then simmer in brown butter & almonds....

How's that sound????? Ima try it....(I've been dreading it for WEEKS)

  • missy

I've never had brussel sprouts but I don't think I'll try it out....I'll stick to the broccoli,carrots,corn,potatoes.....(I could go on for a while)

  • Cinnamon Kisses

trynabeme....Brussell Sprouts are okay....not my fav but they are okay! That recipe does not sound all that bad! Let me know how it turns out!!!

  • Divinebrown

I can see everyone is ready for Thanksgiving.

I AM TOO!!!! READY LIKE FREDDY! I'm coming to the A. (jea)

    CHITLINS...AKA SH!TLINS=WORMS.

Hubby cleaned two buckets of chittlins last night while watching the Cavs game. He cleaned two last week and will clean two more this weekend. I love me some chitlins.
I also like my grits with without the cheese, the next day I cut them in squares and fry them and eat with hot sauce. I am mad I am 'Tardy For The Party'. I had a prob with my work computer and had to delete some things and I did not have my pass word at work. I don't want the boss to know what I do online and was afraid for the security of my computer. The boss messed his computer up trying to download something and had to pay a tech $240.
I am looking at a $3500 bonus at the end of the year and I don't want to have any deducted to fix my work computer because of being on the web doing non work related things. LOL.

I wish that's all I had to make. What about the green bean casurole, mashed potatoes and gravy, bow tie broccoli salad, spaghetti salad, dressing, fresh cranberry sauce with orange zest. The others you just have to set out or chop, veggie tray, cheese w/crackers and summer sausgae and shimp cocktail w/sauce. I saw on a cooking show a receipe for a black eye pea salad that I will add to my menu and also a spinach dip. I just made myself hungry and I just ate baked chicken. Hubby bakes the ham, cooks the chittlins(has anyone ever had fried chittlins')? and bakes all the sweets. Hubby loves to bake Red Velvet Cake but I think this yr after reading the comments I will ask him to make the cupcakes with the creme cheese.

I must say I became a Rihanna fan after she took on the funky persona and her and Chris got together because they were cute as a button. I have never been a fan of her music as I am not into pop, but I must say I agree Sandra. Even if I am not a pop fan I know what good pop sounds like. She had good pop on her last album. This album seems to be full of throw away tracks. What do I know? Maybe her fans will like it, but in my humble opinion, Chris has her beat right now in terms of the music he's doing.

@Anna I have a cousin who makes me red velvet cupcakes every yr for my b day. I never help my mama cook on turkey day the most I will do is peel the sweet pots and grate the cheese for her famous mac n cheese other than that I am a BUM on the couch! I am a picky eater overall (no greens, pork, peppers, onions, tomatos, dressing/stuffing) so my turkey day plate looks like a reg sun dinner plate the only extra things added are devil eggs and desserts!

I have a prob with a picky eater. I know kids who don't know what drinking water is until they come to my house. I was a young parent and I think I was smart enough/blessed enough to intorduce my kids to different things. As my intentions became "aware" later in life my one kid now loves tomotes, onions and bell peppers raw with a dipping sauce. I do also make my deviled eggs but use a fat free ranch dressing in place of mayor and chop up crab meat. It is oh so good! I try to buy the eggs in the plastic cartons so I can clean it out and put the deviled eggs back in the cartoon. I mix everything together and put the cooked yokes, crab meat, onions, all my seasoings(mustard, a touch of salt and pepper) in a plastic sandwich/freezer bag and snip the end of the bag so it's like a frosting pouch. I squeeze the bag to swirl in my deviled egg mix into the whites of the eggs. Then I sprinkel on Paprika for color and more flavor. It is alway a hit at any meal.

I'm with you. Praise God for my mama who made sure we had a well balanced, healthy diet from birth. I notice that my 5 year old is very mindful of what is healthy which actually scares me a little because she really tries to live by what I say when it comes to eating properly and I am not sure that is appropriate for a 5 year old. She has little friends come over and my fiance insists on feeding them and her friends never eat the veggies. Her current best friend comes from a house of obese women and I fear she is on her way as well.

ANNA!!! Girl I think you and I would be good friends....lol
Your family sounds like yall gets down like ours do. You know how everyone on your block cooks but everybodies kids still want to eat at only a couple of houses on the block...ours is one.

I had this discussion with my hubby a couple of days ago. My family has NEVER made mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving or Christmas. The first time I heard of people having it was when Bill Clinton was on tv one holiday saying what they were having at the White House. My hubby said his family did but I thought this was just a YT thing. Anyone else cooks mash potatoes as the norm on these holidays?

Whoever was talking about brussel sprouts, ladies they are not nasty. That recipe sounds good to be they are good just boiled down with butter and salt and pepper. My aunt tripped on my daughter we were visiting NY on my then 5 year old daughter b-day. My aunt asked her what she wanted for her birthday dinner. She said Brussel Sprouts and strawberry shortcake. My aunt was like what kid chooses brussel sprouts for their birthday.
Anna, I agree about starting them young with good eating habits. My youngest daughter loved asparagus so much as a baby my husband would heat up a can to feed her for lunch. But I don't believe it prevents picky eaters. I got one of those too. The boy of course. Nothing can be touching on his plate he don't like foods that are mixed together like casseroles etc He's even picky about sweets. One ice bluebell homemade vanilla. As a toddler he lived on grits and pb & J.

Rihanna should be ashamed of her self for wanting to play her fans cheap, she will use the fight to sell this slop, Love Me, Hate Me, I'm sorry mess!

  • Silhouette

    @Wiggy
My son will eat brussel sprouts every night of the week if I made it he looooves them. Can't wait for Thanksgiving! :danban:

Shauny what do you do with all that good Turkey Gravy if you don't have mashed potatoes. I know ppl do like it on their turkey and some even like it on their dressing. I never put two and two together about whites having mashed potatoes and Gravy for Thanksgiving, I thought everyone did it. My mom was white but my dad is black and from Mississippi. Silhouette I can't stand Brussel sprouts. I consider them little dirty cabbages and I have never been able to find a way to make them taste good. I do love cabbage though.
