The AJC.com reports that Allen Iverson’s wife has filed for divorce:

In the divorce petition filed on Tuesday, Tawanna Iverson said her 8 ½-year-long marriage to the guard was “irretrievably broken.” In the petition, Tawanna Iverson asked for temporary and permanent custody of their five children as well as child support and alimony.

She did not ask for a specific dollar amount.

The children range in ages from 17 months to 15 years.

The children and their parents have lived in north Atlanta since August, according to the court filing. Before that, the family claimed homes in Rochester, Mich.; Englewood, Colo.; Denver, Colo.; and Villanova, Pa.

Well, so much for that excuse that Philadelphia 76er Allen Iverson gave to explain why he wasn’t playing in regular season games for the Philadelphia 76ers. According to online reports, Iverson said he was taking a leave of absence to spend time with his daughter who was suffering from a mystery ailment.

But according to ESPN blog, Iverson won’t be back in a Sixers uniform this season.

Allen Iverson’s second stint with the team he once led to the NBA Finals ended Tuesday when the Sixers announced he would not return for the rest of the season.

Iverson has mostly been absent from the team for a month, returning to Atlanta to be with his family as they deal with an undisclosed illness of his 4-year-old daughter, Messiah.

Not to be deterred by his unemployment status, Iverson partied with NFL players Deon Grant and Edgerrin James last night at Vice Lounge in Atlanta. Vivica A. Fox’s man Slimm (pictured above, left, with AI) and Mr. Plush of Plush Blue Entertainment promote the popular Wednesday night parties at Vice Lounge.

Slimm’s next gig is in Toronto, Canada where he’s promoting a party hosted by rappers Julez Santana and Fabolous on March 19.
