More Proof that Hip Hop is a bad influence on our children
I stopped this video after only 10 seconds in. It is disgraceful what some parents think is funny and cute when it comes to their children. The incidences of violence among teens and teenage pregnancy is spiraling out of control in the black community.
You only have to look as far as MTV and BET’s 106 & Park to see why: music videos by the likes of Ciara and Nicki Minaj that portray women as sex objects.
Though in BET’s defense, they did ban Ciara’s “Ride” video from the airwaves for its graphic, sexualized imagery. Kudos to them.
Still, we must do better as a people!

i haven’t watched all of it but this really is sad…but her mom is probably 16 so she thinks it’s cute.
Whenever I become a mother if something like this ever happens I would not be recording my child instead I would be beating the Black, Brown, Blue, and purple out of her. I hate to see little girls doing the booty dances and Beyonce dances and grown-ups around them cheering them on, its not cute AT ALL!
cant view the video at work but the image takes me back to that baby beyonce video where that barely 2 year old made it clap like she was a regular at magic city…dang it i cant even make it clap!

when i was little my momma would not even let us watch mtv…me and my sister tried to sneek and watch it (that was back in the cable box days where u had to get up and walk to the tv set and change the channel) and we could not change the channel in time before my momma walked in…She saw Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” video and the cable was shut off the next day!

In the mind of the little girl, she is dancing and simulating a video/artist. She would only make the connection of that with of a stripper if YOU (the parent) introduces her to that.

That is creepy, I could only watch a few seconds because I was scared Chris Hanson would come into my job. I hate seeing kids trying to act grown and even worse when the parents encourage it. Too many people don’t want to “baby” their children so they are cool with them acting “mature” for their age. I understand not babying them when they are teenagers but it’s ok to act like a baby when you are one (under 10).

But this is only a child doing what she enjoys. She is just being herself right? Isn’t she expressing her creativity through dance? What makes this different than all the other children that express themselves through dressing like adults, telling their parents what they will or won’t do, rocking hairstyles and/or clothes which are not age appropriate? Children nowadays are given to much free reign imo, parents need to get a hold on these children and make them realize that as the adult you are there to guide them in the right way so that when they get older they will make decisions that will not have a negative impact on their lives and become decent members of society. But then again we all have strayed….

Naw, I won’t. Actually, I will become a God parent to a little girl i a few weeks. The first female born into my family (I mean extended family too) in over two decades.

I don’t agree with this at all but I’m not this little girl’s mother, because if I were, she would NOT be doing this. I don’t find this cute at all. But I agree that sometimes we as adults get overly excited when children do things that isn’t right and instead of just explaining to them why they shouldn’t do it, we overreact and that sometimes causes the opposite effect to happen. Finding that perfect balance is often times illusive but as adults we’re humans too and we make mistakes, especially if it’s your first child or you’re really young.

Hello All. AS PARENTS, WE HAVE GOTS TO DO BETTER, we have gots to go back to being a village. Two days ago in DC, a 16 yr old was shot in the chest while walking home with his brother. The assailant missed with the first shot, then shot him right thru the chest, point-blank range, so sad. It happens almost everyday, in every city, a young, black man gets killed by another young, black man. (Why are our younguns so angry?) As a single parent, I raised my only child, my son, in DC, in the hood. Each day before he left home, we would hug and pray, together, that God would keep him safe, protect him, guide him, and forgive him for his sins. Last yr, he graduated from Stanford. (He loves CA and hates DC) And yes, Sandra is right, hip-hop has been, and still is, a great influence on our children, especially if the only parent in the home is a 18 yr old single female with 4 other children.

Children only do what their parents allow!! I don’t think you can blame the music industry because children are dancing like strippers. You blame that childs parents. My son and daughter were never allowed to watch music videos as children. My daughter is 16 and I think she’s only gotten into music videos within the last year but at this point I think she’s been taught what’s appropriate and what’s not so she can make her own decisions based on what she’s been taught on what’s best.
A child’s lessons start at home. If their starting with MTV/BET that’s the parents fault.

This has nothing to do with Hip Hop. This is called BAD PARENTING! A child her age shouldn’t be listening to music like that or watching music videos.
When her parent or parents seen her do this, they should of sat her down and explained to her what she was doing was not appropriate. Not whip her, then they should of given her something appropriate for her to do with her dance. Like sending her a dance school. Kids have too much time on their hands and if you allow MTV and BET teach your child how they should carry themselves that this type of thing will happen. It is only really bad if the parent makes a REAL BIG issue out of this instead of handling it in a proper manner where the baby doesn’t feel bad, but knows it’s not right.
