Nick Cannon Discusses Mariah’s Phantom Pregnancy
The blogosphere is once again buzzing that songbird Mariah Carey is pregnant with husband Nick Cannon’s baby. And once again, Nick is jumping through hoops to downplay the rumors.
How many times do we have to go through this same song and dance? Obviously, if Mariah was pregnant enough to show, then they would have announced it by now. Right? So give the rumors a rest already, because she is clearly not pregnant.
Mariah is 40 now. As women age, our hormonal production begins to slow down. That’s when fat cells accumulate around our abdomen giving the appearance of pregnancy. For all we know, Mariah is probably premenopausal.
Here’s what 29-year-old Nick had to say about the situation to New York’s 92.3 FM station yesterday (pay attention to the text in bold and read between the lines):
I’ve have said it before and I’ll say it time and time again: when my wife feels like talking about whatever she wants to talk about, you will hear it directly from her.
We all know it’s extremely personal, and it’s for a woman to deal with things with her body, especially when dealing with the idea of childbirth and all that stuff.
That is something you want to keep near and dear and as close to you as you possibly can, until you’re 100% sure. In any situation, there is a certain time limit you’re supposed to wait before you can actually officially say that you are and all that stuff. You don’t want to mislead anybody.
TRANSLATION (this is what Nick really meant to say):
Mariah and I are not yet pregnant. She has issues going on with her body and stuff that’s related to her age. But we are spending obscene amounts of money on fertility doctors because Mariah and I really need this pregnancy to keep us both relevant. Please Pray for us.

I saw pics today where she looked preggo to me…………

I’m not in the medical field but she has gained ALOT of weight. I saw some pics of her performing in Spain with a black tutu and she was looking mighty bloated. Could this be because of hormone drugs :shug:
I think they are just keeping it under wraps because more than likely she has had a miscarriage and they want to make sure everything is a go before speaking on it. Besides that is a delicate subject so its nobodys business until they want it to be. I wish the best for them.

I too think she may have had a few miscarriages. There were a few times that she looked like she picked up some weight. I saw pics yesterday and that looks like more than mid section weight gain, it looks like a pregnancy.

if she is pregnant then I pray that her and the baby are safe and healthy. I do think she has had at least one miscarriage and that can be a heartbreaking and emotionally draining experience.

Hello All. Blessings to Mimi in her attempts to have a child but having your first after 40 can be so, so complicated. Mother nature meant for women to have their babies early in life. That’s why teenagers get pregnant so easily, they’re so futile, and some pop ‘em out like it’s a stroll in the park. That said, I do wish her the best. It can be done. Peace.

i actually agree with what he’s saying. i’m old and preggo and had no problems but have had MANY friends who have had problems and it’s a very sensitive issue. there’s probably some pressure seeing as though she has a younger man and it seems like she’s been having trouble. i saw a pic of her lately and she damn sure looked preggo this time.

If Mariah isn’t pregnant, she needs to be real soon. All that waiting will have Nick changing her diapers and the baby’s.
Pregnant or not… doesn’t really matter long as she’s happy. Nick is supportive as a husband and that’s a far cry from the other examples society has been saturated with.
I will say that pregnancy at any age can be risky and I don’t blame “famous” people for keeping a tight lip. I mean they already live life under a microscope (it’s the life they chose), imagine getting pregnant and suffering a miscarriage publically.
As a “regualr” gal, I’ve experienced 2 high risk pregancies with one fetal demise. Nevertheless, if she’s preggers cool, long as the baby is loved and supported outside of this dememted world that’ all that matters.. I guess…

Google pictures of this chick in Brazil… she’s pregnant. Typically, I don’t care one way or the other, but those pictures confirmed it for me. She didn’t gain a few lbs around her waist, she has a huge baby bump and I’d say she’s at least 5 months.
What I don’t understand is, why is pregnancy so secretive? I guess you have to be a woman to understand that $hit because I don’t get it.

I love me some Mariah. Hopefully everything will work out for her. Many women have children over 40 (Halle, Madonna (another of my girls), etc). My grandma had my mom at 43 (she is the youngest of 6 though). Her stomach was looking a little too big for it to be weight gain because she’s not really that fat right now.

lmaof @ Sandra it could also means she could of had a couple of misscarriages or a Molar pregnancy. People with Mole pregnancies are stressed to wait until at least a year before you can try again. I wish the couple well and hope that Mariah gets to become a mom, i think she & Nick will make great parents.

So true. My granny wouldn’t let us buy anything until we were 5 months. I know a lot of people that will not tell anyone they are pregnant until after 3 months. My cousin has had 2 miscarriages this year. She didn’t want to tell anyone she was pregnant because she knew of the risk.
