According to TMZ.com, troubled NFL quarterback Mike Vick canceled his sit down interview with Oprah Winfrey today. It was to be his first major interview since being released from prison where he served 18 months on dog fighting and animal cruelty charges.
Oprah had won the bet she wagered with CNN host Piers Morgan about who would land the interview with Vick first.
There is no word on why he bailed out of the interview with Oprah. But we can only speculate that Oprah was going to grill him about the dog fighting. Or maybe she planned to bring out the kindhearted people who adopted Vick’s surviving victims.
What else would they have to talk about for a whole hour?
i love animals too, but garshdammit, the dude did his time.. he’s made up for it. why won’t people leave him alone?

Hello All, below is one of my many letters to the editor published in a PA newspaper in 09. Boy, did I rile some white folks, one called me a race-baiting fool. Hmmmmm, Race-baiting fool, what an excellent title for my first book, which is a compilation of my letters over the years:
PLEASE allow this 55-year-old black American female, who’s never been a professional sports fan, to comment on Michael Vick.
I don’t mean to play the race card, but the Vick situation shows, again, how vividly America is divided by race. It seems that white Americans are more adamant about him not returning to the NFL than most black Americans.
Can I go one step further? It seems that many white Americans tend to love their pets more than their fellow countrymen, especially black ones. As a God-fearing Christian, I ain’t never read in the Bible where Jesus instructed his disciples or his followers to love their pets more than their neighbors or themselves!

Just because he is black he gets a pass? You can’t compare what he did to Lindsay Lohan. I just have a problem with the fact that he really does not show any remorse for what he did. Fighting dogs for money is one thing, I don’t agree with it but I can see where he might justify it if he needed the moey, but electrocuting dogs, torturing them or throwing them off of a roof?
