When Esperanza Spalding shocked the world by snatching away Justin Bieber’s Best New Artist award at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, it signaled a new dawn in the music industry. People are just plain tired of Justin Bieber, who is rumored to be extremely rude to adults — particularly to no name female reporters.
We all know he should have won that award last night (whether he deserved it or not), but the Grammy committee wanted to send a strong message to the cocky kid: you’re not all that!
After eating a slice of humble pie, Justin, 16, literally ran into Spalding, 26, backstage at the Staples Center near the green room where interviews were being conducted. According to MTV News, rather than be bitter, Bieber shook hands with the newly crowned Grammy winner, congratulating her on her victory.
Their meeting was very brief, but the implication was clear: anyone can snatch your crown. You’re never too big to be chopped down to size. Just ask Beyonce.
I understand he’s huge with the kindies, but the fact is his music is bubble gum to the extreme. He is not worthy of a Grammy yet.
Oh, and I was eternally grateful that Jay not B performed last night. I seriously needed a break from those two.
I agree i thought Drake deserved it over bieber
but i actually thought Florance and the machine would win
Whatever.
What does Bey have to do with this? That girl dosen’t have to a put out another record for the rest of her life and sit back and sail the world. How many of these artists out here now can say that? Keep in mind the girl is what 30—–CHILE PLEASE
who the hell is esperanza spalding?
drake should have won, but then again he’s not new.
And who snatched Bey’s crown??
@Brown- No one, but maybe J Hud snatched all the Dreamgirls buzz and the Oscar.
Sandra, Justin Bieber isn’t going away anytime soon, unfortunately. As long as the kids and teenie boppers love him and fork over money to see his movie, buy his nail polish, and get that lesbian hair cut he’ll be around. The Grammy committee awarded good music over teenage cd sales and I’m ok with that.
@Prob
Happy Valem-times Day! :hugs:
To answer your question, a Prince protégé. Other than that…
Beibs and Drake must have canceled each other out…there were a bunch of ANGRY tweets about Esperanza last night #pothang
The Grammys and the Real Housewives of Atlanta were boring.
The best performance was Bruno’s. Whatever his name is. He took us back to the 50s and 60s when Black folks could sing and play instruments really good.
Christina Aguilera out song Yolanda Adams and Jennifer Hudson who were to0 busy trying to be cute than singing their darn parts.
Another high point for me was seeing the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin. I love Miss Aretha!!!
Esperanza Spalding, she’s Prince artist.. He know how to spot talent. She has a wonderful station on Pandora…
now that i really watch it, it looks like Esperanza was trying to flee from Justin as soon as he walked over there.
Beyonce has never been chopped DOWN. Ever. #thatisall
I’m not gonna lie..I had to google this woman..she has been trending on twitter since last night…nobody knew who she was but we all know her now!
And did you catch Kanye’s twitter about her lol…he was being careful with his choice of words.
She is talented!
When Justin Beaver’s voice changes he won’t be a hit anymore.. remember when Greg Brady’s voice changed on the Brady Bunch?
the bieber is aight
Esperanza Spalding is an amazing jazz musician and deserved to win that award. She was the most talented out of that category even though she’s not well known outside her genre. BTW, she’s not a Prince protege. She’s opened up for him because real artists recognize real artists.
You can not fought The Beib’s people for attempting to be strategic in securing this award for him. The build up to his movie, the release date of move. The numerous commercials and product pushing he has been involved with were all geared towards last night being his night. I am glad that he didn’t get it.
Put in more work Justin, then maybe in the next few years…we can watch you receive an award and not have a complete WTF moment.
I’ve known about her for a hot second and I’m glad she won
@Genia
In a few years, The Bieb won’t be “cute” and no one who listens to real music will give a damn about him.
Pfftttttt
Aint nobody stealing the throne from Bey….she aint had album out in TWO years and still headlining festivals that ONLY white people attend….
Sandra have seat…..
Hey
Everybody else!!!!!
Good Morning!!
I enjoyed Xtina and J Hud
Bey had on some cute shorts last night didn’t care for the jacket though
Congrats Esperanza
Put in more work Justin, then maybe in the next few years…we can watch you receive an award and not have a complete WTF moment.

where is Kanye when you need him…..
Very mature of him.
I have a feeling that the biebs and drake will be alright. I’m not gonna lie, she was the only artist that i had to google
HEy Daisy and Genia,
Congrats Esperanza!!!!!! REal talent and not a studio singer
I was still confused as to who she was but Congrats i guess
I NEED her afro
Thank you Cinderella! And if Prince had such an eye for talent, he would not have freaked our ears out with Vanity Six and Appollonia Six. He gets way more credit than he deserves! I still enjoy some of his music though.
Justin’s so young so its ok that he didn’t get a grammy. I feel bad for Esperanza because everyone on twitter was like who and the kids who are struck with Beiber Fever were mad. I’ve heard of her before & had a feeling she would win because she was the least known & most unique in the bunch. It can be a curse to win though because mostly everyone that has won were one album hit wonders except for Christina Aguilera.
YAY! I am so glad that Esperanza won! She’s from my city and she is a great jazz artist, and deserved to win. She’s not a Prince protege (thanks for all of those that already said that) and that gilr can play the bass!
I meant *girl* not *gilr*.
Bye Sandra! Why are u even mentioning Bey?? No one has snatched her crown!! And this lady isn’t snatching Justin Beiber’s crown!!
