Kanye West – Mama’s Boyfriend
If you’re a regular on my blog then you know I often write about men (like R&B crooner Usher) who didn’t successfully navigate through the Oedipus Complex stage of their childhood psychosexual development (age 4-7).
Freud’s definition of Oedipus Complex is “the childhood desire to sleep with the mother and to kill the father.” “The father” is represented by any male who stands between the boy and his love object (the mother).
This new track by Kanye West could have been written by Usher. According to Miss Info, “Mama’s Boyfriend” is a leftover from Kanye’s critically acclaimed album, My Dark Twisted Fantasy.
“Mama’s Boyfriend” is a classic illustration of a man still struggling with overcoming feelings of sexual desire for his mother.

The cops don’t think she’s dangerous because she’s just 5. But that 5-year-old had a plan and she put that plan into action by killing the baby. This is called a personal track. He had some stuff to get off his chest (he had to write it on paper). It’s a throw-away track that he wanted people to hear. Didn’t make the album (just like his other mama song) but the “genious” tag can’t be denied. Nice song and you can tell that since it didnt make the final cut, they did not feel the responsibility to put all the final, post-production finishings on it.
