Michael Jackson Manslaughter Trial Opens with Shocking Photo
According to the NY Post, a video image showing the dead body of Michael Jackson on a hospital gurney was shown today to jurors during opening statements of Dr. Conrad Murray’s manslaughter trial which started today in Los Angeles.
“The acts and the omissions of Michael Jackson’s personal doctor, Conrad Murray, directly led to his premature death at the age of 50,” said Los Angeles Deputy DA David Walgren.
Michael Jackson paid “far too high a price” for the criminally negligent care of his doctor when the world-famous singer dropped dead two years ago, prosecutors said.
Jackson’s siblings, Janet, 45, and Randy, 49, attended the trial.
The video image shows Jackson’s pale, lifeless body lying on a gurney after attempts by emergency room docs to restart his heart failed. The word ‘Homicide’ is edited into the frame.
Jackson still has the intubation tube down his throat, which paramedics used in a futile effort to pump air into his lungs before he got to the hospital. The video was probably shot in the coroner’s office since there is no other emergency equipment visible in the photo.

I guess I’m a weakling…that picture is haunting to me…I don’t need to see blood and guts to get disturbed by a death photo. It would be one thing if it was a pic of him in the coffin, but a pic of him on the gurney right after they could not revive him… *shudders*
It’s a trial. They show pics of dead bodies during them all the time. A hell of a lot more gruesome and graphic than that one up there.
Now I could see if they were showing MJ’s autopsy photos or something but this…Maybe I watch too much CSI and Criminal Minds.

I work at a hospital in an Anatomic Pathology lab, where body parts go AFTER surgery. And if someone dies while being in the hospital for over 24-hours and the family requests it, we do their autopsies as well. BUT not that often.

Seriously though, I’m not trying to make anyone that feels bad about that pic up there feel worse.
I guess it’s the way I view life and death that allows me to look at it without feeling some kind of way. As far as I’m concerned, that’s no longer MJ, just the shell he left behind. The energy/spirit/etc that made him him, his soul, has moved on.
And if showing that pic will help the jury convict that quack, I can understand their showing it.

R.I.P MJ. This whole trial is boggling my mind because MJ was a drug abuser. Should the doctor’s license be taken away? absolutely. Manslaughter?? That’s a stretch. Do you ever see drug dealers on trial for the crack heads they kill every day? No they get charged with possession and intent to distribute. Stop blaming Mr. Murray and own up to Michael’s faults.

Mike was a drug addict but Murray was SUPPOSED to be a doctor in charge of his health. He could have done his job intsted of being blinded by the dollar signs in his eyes.
He purposely fed a drug he wasn’t even licensed to administer to a patient that was clearly hooked on it. And, according to his own words, left said patient alone and unsupervised with a drug that wasn’t being pumped into his patient’s system with the proper equipment.
I don’t know about manslaughter, but Murray should lose way more than his license for that.

I completely agree with you. I’m a die hard MJ fan but i had to realize what he was and that was a drug addict. Michael would have abused any drug left in his range and he had several doctors before Mr. Murray came into the picture. I’m not saying it’s right but I don’t think he should bear the blame.

I will say that MJ bears some personal responsibility in that he purposely sought out doctors that would take his money and do what he wanted no questions asked.
But on the same token, any so-called doctor that signs up for that deal knows the risks and should accept the consequences. In the end, Murray was the one giving Michael lethal does of an anesthetic that was illegal to use outside of a hospital setting. The fact that he tried to cover it up speaks volumes to me. I think he knew he was the one to put the final nail in Mike’s coffin.
MJ has paid the ultimate price for his bad choices and now it’s Conrad’s turn.

@missmainey.. yes, there have beenplenty cases where regular runof the mill drug dealers were charged in the deaths of runof the mill junkies. The reasnit doesn’t happen very often is because most junkies’ families don’t know the names of their dealers.

I agree. Dr. Murray’s criminal negligence, and his greed, directly led to MJ’s death.
That is why I do NOT ever want to be on a murder trial I do NOT want to see dead bodies/blood/guts etc
I don’t even watch CSI/first 48/Law and Order. I did check out Prime Suspect and that crime scene made me cover my eyes to much blood. Oh and I LOVE The Closer!
