Musician-turned-fashion designer Kanye West had good reason to be a little nervous at the debut of his DW Ready to Wear Spring / Summer 2012 show during Paris Fashion Week on Saturday (Oct. 1) in Paris, France.
Barely minutes after his collection debuted at Lycee Henri IV, the national media and bloggers were already tearing it to shreds.
Forbes fashion critic Blue Carreon suggested that the collection consisted of “clothes for Kanye’s tribe”, adding that they were for “women who have to attend the Grammy awards in statement making clothes that reveal a lot of skin.”
“Next season Kanye should get a tailor so clothes might fit. Models swimming in some looks,” wrote the NY Times.
“Necklines plunged so precariously that they seemed a personal shout-out to J-Lo…there were lots and lots of tight leather pants,” wrote Heard On The Runway blog.
But one fashion critic, Lindsay Lohan, whose clothing line West once compared to “9/11 for celebrities doing fashion,” was more forgiving. She flew to Paris just to attend Kanye’s debut. LiLo sat in the front row and laughed all the way through the debut.
