Police are searching for a 21-year-old Idaho man who shot at a White House window with an AK-47 assault rifle on Friday.
Police have named 21-year-old Oscar Ortega Hernandez of Idaho as a suspect in the bizarre shooting. Witnesses tell police they heard shots and saw two speeding vehicles leave the area. An AK-47 rifle was recovered nearby.
The Secret Service found one bullet lodged in the protective ballistic glass of a historic exterior window. Another spent round was found on the grounds of the White House.
U.S. President Barack Obama was not in his official residence at the time of the shooting. He landed in Australia yesterday amid heightened security after documents were found revealing his possible locations while in Australia.
According to the Daily Mail, the documents detailing the Secret Service’s scouting locations for possible Obama visits were left in a van in full view of passersby.
The Secret Service has tightened security to ensure the safety of the president.
UPDATE I:
According to published reports, the U.S. Secret Service said Pennsylvania authorities arrested Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez this afternoon at a Pennsylvania hotel. Ortega-Hernandez was taken into custody without incident.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that the alleged assault occurred Oct. 29 at a McDonald’s in the Cincinnati suburb of Anderson Township. Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Barnett says the girl’s grandmother was nearby in the restaurant at the time.

I wouldn’t necessarily say that….I don’t know for sure…maybe someone else knows the answer this: does the fact his parents turned him in themselves…make a better defense strategy for a softer sentence? or is it another way to protect them (the parents) from liablity?

I don’t know the parents could be held liable in any way to begin with. Maybe they were negligent in not watching him but so was the parent of the year old.
Just based on touching “rape” sure does sound excessive. Literal rapists often have the prosecutors reduce the charge to something like “Indecency” and chit like that.
