Remember the transgender person who was kicked out of the Miss Universe pageant for not being a biological female? Well, the pageant officials have caved under the intense pressure from the LGBT groups. It doesn’t matter that this person has no chance of winning the coveted crown. The important thing is to be allowed to compete as a girl.
Disqualified Miss Universe Canada contestant Jenna Talackova better start practicing that wave: Officials have reversed their decision to kick her out for being born a boy. The 23-year-old can now compete on the condition she “meets the legal gender recognition requirements of Canada, and the standards established by other international competitions,” although they still haven’t clarified exactly what those requirements are. My guess is that one of those requirements is to have a gay advocacy group in your corner that has the power and the money to topple pageant sponsorships.
I will also go out on a limb and guess that another requirement is to have powerful lawyers threatening to put the Miss Universe pageant on ice.
